About this assignment

We are looking for someone mature and responsible who would enjoy living near the beach and a small typical Costa Rica town. Someone knowledgeable about taking care of a house in a tropical environment. We are finishing up building details on two houses and planning on selling them in the next year. We are looking for someone to stay in our guest house and help us maintain our main house also when we are gone. If you have children we prefer age 13 or older. We have had trouble with damage to the house with young children a few times.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Someone to help maintain the garden landscape and general outdoor cleaning of driveway, side walk, roof and gutters We have tools to help like a leaf blower, weed eater, hand tools. May also need help to coordinate services for any local maintenance work needed like Air conditioning maintenance, fumigation services, pool services and maintain a presence at the houses. We have one cat that may need care occasionally when we are gone from our main house. He mainly likes to play outside during the day.

What are the good features of the property and location

We live in a new gated expat community and are a short 10 minute walk from the local beach Playa Órganos. We are 10 minutes drive from the Paquera ferry and Paquera town. We on located on the Nicoya Peninsula. Our guest house is Three bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, 2 stories. One bedroom downstairs. We have internet, air conditioning in all the bedrooms and living room, washer and dryer, use of salt water swimming pool. Favorite restaurants in Town for us are Restaurante Ginana and Restaurante Liz’s.
Isla Chiquita is a glamping location with a very nice restaurant. You can make reservations for their water taxi to pick you up near their parking lot on the mainland. This is near Bahía Rica.
La Perla Negra is a fun local restaurant, about 30 minutes north just past Playa Naranjo ferry. The owner Travis also offers boat tours to the Costa Rica prison island Isla San Lucas, now a National Park.

Some popular local activities here are the bioluminescent tours, and Isla Tortuga tours.
Snorkeling, kayaking, and fishing, one of our favorites is https://www.bahiarica.com/
And Curu Wildlife refuge. https://curuwildliferefuge.com/, they also offer tours inside their park or from their park to other areas like Isla Tortuga.
Explore on local day trips to the close touristy beach towns of Montezuma or Santa Teresa.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

Your Expenses would include paying electric bill, 1/2 of water bill and your internet service at the guest house and any damages during your stay. Transportation is necessary in the local area. We do have a vehicle and can provide rides to town. There are also local taxis and buses. Rental cars are available also.
