About this sitter

Laura is a retired non-profit manager, having worked in the arts, tourism and social services. She is a country mouse but appreciates the cultural activities of cities, loves animals and nature, enjoys travel, gardening, yoga and sharing the love of reading as the steward of a Little Free Library. She loves large dogs (has owned two German Shepherds) and is a crazy cat lady (just minus the 99 cats).

Eldon grew up on a dairy farm which had an abundance of domesticated critters. He has had careers in the energy industry and government and has retired from his business. His interests include golf, travel, reading and volunteering with many community organizations. He loves cats and is something of a cat magnet. He enjoys many genres of music and collects anything by Bob Dylan, but please don't hold that against him;)

Laura is a dual American / Canadian citizen. Eldon is just a plain old Canadian.

We are non-smokers, easy-going, neat and tidy folks who appreciate a clean, organized home.

We are vaxxed and boosted and hope that you are being safe too.

Why they want to house sit

We enjoy a change of scene and house sitting makes our lives more interesting. We have met so many nice homeowners and their lovely pets in locations we may not have otherwise considered. Having the companionship of pets during our travels makes us feel at home wherever we are.

Their experience

So far on our 22 house sitting adventures, we have had the pleasure of caring for 15 dogs, 33cats, a hilarious African Grey Parrot and a few fishies.

Cats have owned us for several years. Sadly, we lost our much-loved ginger tabby, but a long-haired, green-eyed beauty took up residence and is currently running the estate.

We also engage sitters to look after our home and cat while we travel, so we share your concerns about having capable, loving and trustworthy people in your home.

We provide companionship for your pets. Although we enjoy exploring whatever the area has to offer, we are homebodies at heart. We are just as happy to curl up with a good book, a big cup of tea and a furry critter nearby. We want your pets to feel loved and secure. We will follow their routines and provide all the attention, playtime, walkies, love and snuggles they can stand! At bedtime, we expect pets in our bedroom or on the bed. Caring for pets is the fun part of our vacations.

We believe that good communications are essential for a successful house sit. We will send you daily updates with photos of your pets so you can see how they are adjusting to their new friends.

We are committed to your travels being worry-free. As homeowners, we are used to fixing things if they go wonky or know when to call in reinforcements. We do all the homeownership things: pick up mail, put out trash, plant care and so on. When you do arrive home, you can expect to find your home as you left it.
