About this sitter

I'm a responsible and tidy professional editor whose preferred mode of travel is to settle into a place and get to know it. I often spend my mornings working (preferably with a cat napping contentedly on or beside me), and my afternoons on long exploratory walks.

Why they want to house sit

It's wonderful to take in the exotic sights, sounds, and tastes of a new place—and then come home to the familiar and comforting company of a feline friend.

Their experience

I have years of kittysitting and housesitting experience. While you're away, I'll love and pamper your cats, and keep your home, gardens, and grounds neat and tidy.

In addition to covering the basics of cat care (fresh food and water, scooping the litterbox, or letting the cat in and out as needed), I'm experienced at giving medication and can cater to special needs. I will keep up your cat's daily rituals—brushing fur to a silky softness or playing with a kitten that has lots of energy to burn.

What can they bring to the assignment

I love cats. Cat are lovely and unique creatures, and I find that the best way to develop rapport with them is to listen, observe, and let them take the lead. This and a calm demeanor let cats know that they are safe in my care. Some cats are shy and need time to warm up to a new person, and others are bold and affectionate from the start; either way, it's a wonderful feeling to earn a cat's trust and friendship.

Can't recommend highly enough

Anya cared for our 4 indoor cats and 1 garden cat at our home in Italy for almost 2 months in May-June 2023. Our sit was a bit unusual -- in addition to pet care and maintenance Anya was, after 4 weeks, to 'prep' the indoor cats for pickup by a pet transport company. One of the cats in question is especially skittish with strangers, so while we were away we were concerned about how getting her into her cat carrier the day of the pickup would go. We needn't have worried -- Anya gained our skittish cat's trust (as well as that of the other cats) within a couple days of arriving, and had no problems with prepping her (and the others) on the day of the pickup. Meanwhile Anya befriended our garden cat, who is also skittish, and made sure she was fed and received as much attention as she desired. Anya sent lots of photos of our family members happily lounging on lap, on the couch, and in bed. I think the best testament to her calming presence is that after 3 days of boarding (first time ever) and a very long plane and car journey, all 4 cats (including our skittish girl) arrived to us and their new home surprisingly relaxed, and settled in nicely within 48 hours. Anya obviously very much enjoys the company of cats and connects with them easily. We couldn't have had a better pet sitter to meet the demands of this particular sit. There were two hiccups while were away and Anya handled both adroitly. After we left, one of the cats' export paperwork turned out to have a mistake, and Anya negotiated Italian bureaucracy (never fun, or easy) to get that it corrected. And though we had planned to arrive back at our home a day after Anya left, an accident required us to delay our trip back to Italy. So Anya worked long-distance with me to prep our house to be closed up (and ready for viewings by potential buyers) for three months, working through a long checklist that I emailed and sending me photos of each room before she left. She is clearly able to deal with the unexpected! Finally, Anya connected with a neighbour about keeping an eye out for our garden cat. We didn't request this, but it was so very much appreciated. I think it's an indication of how much she truly cares for the pets in her charge. An absolutely wonderful pet sitter experience. We (and our cats) would welcome Anya back for another sit any time.

Six Cats from Crete are missing you...

Anya is a super lovely person. Nothing is any trouble for her. She has looked after our house and our cats for over 6 weeks and the cats have loved her. Living in our unfinished house in one of the bleakest winters of all time in Greece, Anya has always remained upbeat and positive. Which shows, in how the cats love to be with her. She even lets them share her bed. We have 6 home cats and around 4 feral cats, all of which, Anya has been feeding and looking after: bordering on spoiling them. :) Whilst we were away, Anya would send us the odd picture and keep us updated on how the cats are doing. Which was nice, as we didn’t ask her to. The house, on my return, was lovely and clean and the garden was all weeded. :-) I’ve been lucky to spend a couple of days with Anya, due to my early return. In this time, I’ve got to know Anya well. Anyone who needs a competent, loving, caring cat sitter/house sitter, they would be lucky to have Anya.

Last winter, we had the amazing luck of finding Anya on this website to cat-sit for us when we were away from home. We not only gained a wonderful cat-sitter who we have relied on time after time, but a precious friend. Anya is one of those rare people you don’t find often in this world. She is genuine, present, caring, attentive, and beyond generous. All these qualities are things I would want both in a friend and a kitty-friend, and we get them all in Anya. The love and attention she has poured onto our little aging kitty has been astonishing, not to mention the care she gives our garden as well. We often joke that our kitty needs to have an Anya fix because we don’t give her nearly as much attention as she gets when Anya is here caring for her. Anya is responsible as much as she is loving. When our kitty has been sick, she has taken care of her above and beyond what we would expect of anyone. Our little one has gone through bouts where she just won’t eat, and Anya will spend hours a day trying different foods, sitting by her, and trying to get food into her. She has learned how to give fluids subcutaneously with a needle and how to administer pills, both things that we normally would need a vet technician to do. The most amazing part of all of this is that Anya has generously done all of this for no financial reward. Her generosity is unmet. If you have the opportunity for Anya stay at your home at care for your pets, you are very lucky indeed. She cannot be recommended more highly or praised enough.
