About this sitter
Hi We are June and Ian Smitherd, I'm 65 years of age and Ian is 59.
We retired to Spain 15 years ago and we live in a small mountain village near Ronda. Previously we lived in Derby where I worked for British Rail in various accounting departments and Ian was an assistant transport manager for a Bakery firm. We moved to Cornwall when i retired fro British Rail and i worked as a dispenser/receptionist at a doctor's surgery and Ian again worked for a bakery firm..Although now retired Ian does various small maintenance jobs and friends holiday homes in the village and he also looks after a property with a pool and garden while the owners are in the UK. We have previously house sat at a property in Portugal fro 2 periods of 7 month looking after 2 dogs, we have also house sat in properties looking after cats and recently we have looked after 2 golden retrievers in Cornwall for 2 month and we are returning to look after them again at the end of the year.And we regularly housesit looking after 4 cats and also we have looked after the same dog now for 3 years.
Why they want to house sit
As we now no longer have animals of our own we can now take the opportunity to house sit , which is both advantageous to us and the owners.

Excellent house and pet sitters
June and Ian house and pet sat for our 2 dogs and 3 cats for just over two weeks in September 2023. It was our first real experience of having house and pet sitters, and was a great introduction. Communication with them before, during and after the sit was great. We had no concerns at all while we were away and came home to an immaculately clean home, healthy plants and settled happy pets. Our home is a fully reformed cortijo but a country home which needs some extra attention to water management, pool cleaning etc. and all this was handled well. We would recommend June and Ian without hesitation.

House sitting for us
June and Ian looked after it animals and home really well. The place looked amazing on our return and we are actually going to use them again ????. Would definitely recommend them. The animals were all happy and content when we arrived home and we didn't worry at all when we were away. They communicated really well which we appreciated.

House and cat sitter
June and Ian came to look after the cats and the house. What a brilliant job they did. Good communication throughout. The cats settled very well with them and Ian did some great work in the garden. The house was perfect when we came back. Highly recommend them. Hope they can fit us in another time.

Just the Best
June and Ian were due to sit for us for 10 weeks earlier in the year Covid unfortunately halted our arrangements but June and Ian were flexible and agreed to sit as soon as was possible. We remained in contact by phone and whats app. Junes cheery personality and infectious laugh meant we warmed to her before we even met. We were not disappointed when they arrived. Both June and Ian were friendly and interested whilst we showed them around. They kept us up to date with there life in our home and sent pictures of the animals. On returning home June and Ian had already, by mutual arrangement left( Covid precaution) The house was so immaculate. They had left food for our lunch. We were astonished when we went outside. The pool was crystal clear, all the terraces swept. Plants pruned and revived and odd repair jobs accomplished. We were sorry not to see June and Ian on our return but hope very much they will sit for us again. We totally recommend them to take care of property and animals.

June and Ian were awesome! Stayed over the time originally agreed, loved the cats, dug the garden, put up with our neighbour building The Great Wall of China! to name but a few things! Ian fixes the pool seal and prevented it going green as well as doing small jobs around the house. Amazing couple we will stay in touch as they are now great friends. Thank you so much.
