About this sitter

Hi. I'm a single, retired man. Originally from Southern Indiana, I spent two decades working professionally in the midwest. Following several vacation visits, I fell in love with the Caribbean, eventually moving to the Virgin Islands.

After almost 30 years of living and working in the British and U.S. Virgin Islands, I retired and have since returned to the U.S. mainland where I divide my time between housesitting and RVing.

Normally I spend winters in southwestern Arizona. I am active – walking, cycling and hiking, as well as kayaking and sailing when possible.

A non-smoker, I have been fully vaccinated and boosted against COVID-19.

Why they want to house sit

I find housesitting is an excellent way to visit and gain a deeper understanding of unique, varied and special places and people. At the same time, it’s satisfying to know I can provide a valuable service to pet and home owners while pursuing my interest in travel.

Their experience

My short-term housesitting experience began with some unique boat and “island” sits, while working in the British Virgin Islands during the 1990s.

My first extended housesitting in the U.S. Virgin Islands, began shortly after I retired in 2016. A friend and occasional colleague on nearby St. John asked me to care for their cat and home while she and her husband embarked on a year-long, bucket-list-style RV expedition. I served as their home base for mail, bills, vehicles, etc., as they crisscrossed the U.S. mainland and Alaska in 2016-17.

I have subsequently enjoyed five or six, shorter sits (one-to-three months) for them on St. John, including one in the spring of 2024.

State-side, I have concluded five additional, extended housesits organized via mindmyhouse.com. Also, in 2023, I enjoyed a five-month housesit in Meridian, ID, which was organized directly with a former neighbor.

Mindmyhouse.com sits 2021-2024: extended stays in Austin TX; Mountain View AK; Palm Desert CA; Cedar Crest NM (near Albuquerque); and a week’s stay near Madrid NM.

I will provide attentive, personal care for your pet(s), while maintaining your home and property as if it were my own.

I am happy to provide regular email, text and photo/video updates of pets and property. I can also gather and forward (or scan and email) mail/packages/etc. as desired.
