About this sitter
We are a married couple, in our early-mid 50s, who decided to quit our jobs in the big city in order to pursuit our passions. We have lived in the Lot region, France since 2015, where we renovated an old stone house in a small village. We are both tertiary qualified and literate in English and French. Michel is writing a novel and loves rowing in the Lot river, while I enjoy playing the piano, cycling, furniture restoration and creative cuisine; we both practice yoga, read and enjoy inspiring conversations. We have been members of a homeswap organisation for 10 years. Our home exchange would include looking after animals and watering the garden. We are environmentally conscious and choose to live a simple and wholesome life in the country. We grow our vegetables, herbs, fruit and flowers in our little garden, where we recycle all kitchen refuse. We choose to eat organic foods and are non-smokers.
We love animals but do not have any of our own as that would inhibit us from travelling. However, we have the opportunity to look after our friends’ cats and chickens when they are not around.
Why they want to house sit
We love to travel and see different regions and we love animals. We believe house sitting is a form of exchange, not dis-similar to house swapping. It is a win win situation where we offer our service to care for the house, garden and animals for home owners who want to go away for a vacation.

Mary and Michiel looked after our two cats and three chickens for a week this November. Mary is a supreme cat whisperer and even managed to 'tame' our scaredy cat into cuddles. Gers, France - 7 day house / pet sit
I've had long-term house-sitters for much of the last 12 years or so but this was my first try at having someone for a brief stay at my home in rural SW France. I must admit I was a little uneasy when organising this but it really couldn't have worked out any better. Michiel and Mary were the perfect amiable couple to have looking after my house and old cat whilst I was away recently, and the whole process from start to finish ran better than I could ever have expected. They arrived exactly when I had been advised to expect them, I was given regular updates (with photos of how the cat was taking to them!) whilst I was away, and when I returned the house was, to my embarrassment, cleaner & tidier than how I had left it with them! So all in all a perfect experience, and I can't thank them or recommend them highly enough. Hopefully they'll be able to return and repeat the favour when I plan to be away in the future. Early May house sit
We needed to have a few days away in early May and Mary and Mikhail have been wonderful house sitters for us. We can fully recommend them, not only for the way they looked after our small menagerie, but also watering in the garden, cleaning, washing the bed linen and towels, plus leaving the most delicious lunch for our return! The animals were all perfectly happy and content and I think the dogs in particular missed them both after they left - they just don’t get the ball thrown quite so often from us! A big thank you and we hope they would like to return again.

Wonderful housesitters
It was à joy to come back to à spotless house, a very happy dog and to be fed a super meal as well... Mary and Michiel were thé best of housesitters, sensible and straight forward. - exactly what is needed in a housesitter We left knowing that they would cope. They organised my dog, gave her some great walks by all accounts. Enjoyed themselves too, I hope. Very interesting people, next time, don't rush off so quickly !!!
