About this sitter

Hi there! I’m Gurd, originally grew up in London (UK) where I purchased my first house just 1.5 years after finishing University.
In 1999 I was able to move to the Bay Area in CA (during the Dotcom boom era), thanks to my IT qualifications and experience.

After several rentals in the Bay Area, in 2004 I purchased my own home in Orinda CA, having already owned 4 SFH rentals in FL, which I started buying in 1996 and finally left CA in 2018 to move to Flower Mound TX.

I love to travel and have been to at least 23 international airports & cities as well as the following recent road trips:-
1) San Diego CA to Vancouver BC and then onto Flower Mound TX.
2) Later that year, Flower Mound TX to Toronto ON, then onto MA, NJ, FL & back to TX.
3) Dallas TX to Vancouver BC (in 72 hours) and back to TX again via CA in 2019
4) Vegas to Troy OH and then onto Denver CO for several months of sittings

Spent December 2021 - January 2022 in London UK visiting family and friends after the lockdowns.
Left Texas April 2022 and after visiting the Houston area for business, spent 2 months in Arkansas before traveling to Whitby, Ontario Canada for 20 weeks. There I looked after Felix, a 4 year old cat and helped look after the owners grandmother who is 87 and suffering from dimentia.
After leaving Ontario, spent a week traveling to the West coast staying over night in each of the following States:- Indiana, Alabama, Arkansas, Texas, Arizona and Nevada.
Back in Southern California and hoping to stay in Northern California for a while before heading to British Columbia Canada in early 2023.

I would prefer medium to long term house sitting positions.

Why they want to house sit

As I enjoy travel, I see house sitting as an opportunity to explore and experience different cities and States leading to the same in other countries, once I have gained a proven track record here.

Their experience

0) Have been doing MHM sittings since December 2022 and have more than 12 testimonials from owners who are very happy with my sittings and some repeat sittings!
1) I helped look after an Irving Airbnb house for the super hosts for over 13 months which included getting the furnace heater replaced and then later the cooling unit, when it died.
2) Spent the next 3 months housesitting a Duplex in Old East Dallas (which was walking distance to the “Swiss Avenue Historic District” where you find all multi-million dollar homes). This included helping build the casita in the back, letting in licensed electricians, plumbers and other tradesman, starting at 7am due to the hot afternoon temperatures in TX.
3) Looked after a 4 year old cat in Canada for 20 weeks & 14 other cats for another 18 months in my sittings. Three of these sittings were for pairs of cats and one was for 5 indoor cats!
4) Looked after several dogs, of which 6 were older and had some health related issues (deafness & partially blind, 3 legs and kidney problems)

What can they bring to the assignment

You will get a non-smoking, drug free person (without any family or pets) that will come to stay, being a retired professional that enjoyed a successful career in IT hardware and software support. I am proactive, resourceful and responsible individual that will take good care of your property, keeping it clean and tidy while you are absent.

Having owned and maintained 7 single family homes and one condo during the last 36 years. I am more than capable of doing DIY work but can also supervise bigger projects such as framing, plumbing and electrical rewiring of my property in Irving TX, where I was the GC having pulled the above permits with the city.
I get along with both cats, dogs, birds and recently 5 ducks!
