About this sitter
We are active fit young-ish retirees who love animals and travel. We are willing to drive to locations in Europe to spend reasonable time there. We have had various pets ourselves and enjoy looking after them. We are responsible ex-professionals who know how to look after property as we were both Directors of Estates looking after University estates.
Why they want to house sit
We are retired and free to travel and would like to experience different places. This is best done by staying longer to really get the feel of somewhere. We can combine our love of animals with this zest for travel through Mind My House, as while we are solvent, it's expensive to do long stays in Europe.
Their experience
We have completed several pet sits including a month looking after a dog and a cat in France in 2022, we returned to the same people for another month in 2024 followed by looking after a cat and chickens for a new family, also in France. We have enjoyed meeting and supporting the owners as well as their pets. We have managed their houses and gardens and take that responsibility very seriously. We are looking after a dog and two cats in Menorca in May 2025.
Due to taking a break for covid and family reasons, we lost a previous very positive review for a dog and two cats sit in England in 2019. We also have a lot of references from Airbnb saying how well we have looked after properties we have occupied.

We understand that your pet(s) are an important part of your family and will do our utmost to make sure they are well cared for and happy. We'll also look after your house responsibly.
We are happy to drive to Europe which means we can stay in country locations.

Outgoing Trustworthy Couple
Colin and Claire returned to do a sit for us for a month in January 2024. It was lovely to see them again and we had some catch up time together before the sit began. Very friendly and outgoing they did a great job for us again, and kept in regular contact with us. A friendly and very caring couple
Colin and Claire house sat our cat (Lola) and 4 chickens, they came the day before and the pets instantly took a liking to them which was a great sign. After showing them the ropes for looking after both sets of animals, I was confident in Colin and Claire. They sent updates with pictures and messages which we loved as gave us reassurance that everyone was happy. On return from skiing (early unfortunately due to an skiing accident) the house was clean and tidy. They even cooked dinner for us which was lovely. Thank you so much and we welcome you back anytime

Outgoing trustworthy couple
Colin and Clare sat for us for a month in April 2022. They came early to get to know us and our pets and we enjoyed a meal and each others company. They managed our French farmhouse and garden well during their stay including coping with a storm. Our pets were thoroughly spoilt including many walks, outings and playtimes, they clearly were well looked after and had great fun. We look forward to welcoming Colin and Clare back in January 2024 for a further sit and are reassured of their care and kindness to our home and pets.
