About this sitter
I have an empty nest and my availability is wide open. Of course, I love to travel and have been all over the USA and love national parks. I am active, friendly, fun and responsible. I enjoy hiking, recreational biking, reading and love animals. I grew up with animals and our family had a boarding kennel so I am very experienced with animal care. I am a non-smoker.

I enjoy taking care of animals and traveling all areas of the USA so house sitting fits the best of both worlds.

Very reliable loving sitter

Fantastic reliable sitter
Janice arrived promptly and asked all the questions you would hope a sitter would want to know. She was knowledgeable about looking after dogs and kept to their routine. We returned to two happy content dogs and well looked after plants. We would highly recommend Janice and hope we get to have her visit again someday.

My kitty was happy!

House Sitter
This was the first time the we used Mind My House for pet sitting and house sitting. Nothing but a 100% satisfaction! Janice was a great listener and a great communicator. She was very personable, friendly, and daily sent us pics of our two cats. Her texts were short and sweet. We knew at all times how our cats were doing, she asked the right questions about our house and property, and we found our home just as we left it. We gave her several responsibilities (fill hummingbird feeders, take trash out to street, etc.) that she excelled in. It was a pleasure to have her take care of our cats and home!! Would not think twice about having her back which I am certain we will. Great job Janice.

Highly recommend Janice!
We feel so lucky to have met Janice. She has sat for us and our kitties many times and it's always a pleasure. We never worry about things on the home front when away. Janice is a great communicator, proactive, extremely competent, and just plain sensible. She's also very nice, great with our cats, neat... everything you would look for in a house sitter.

Fabulous Sitter
We just had Janice stay in our home and she is fabulous! She was excellent at communicating and sent of pictures and updates on our home, Janice was tidy and left our house just as we left it for her, She even cleaned up the dog poop in the yard! I would definitely request Janice again!

Another great experience with Janice!
This is at least the 4th time Janice has sat for us and we couldn't be happier. She is a great communicator, has a ton of common sense, is clean and respectful, and most importantly takes great care of our kitties and house.

Janice and Doug are great!
Janice and Doug watched our home and dogs for 2 weeks and frankly it was perfect. They are conscientious, thoughtful, easy to communicate with and totally capable. We communicated a few times about the dogs and some decisions that had to be made with a landscaper working at our place. At no point did we feel any stress. Left the place in great condition! Hope they will stay here again some time.

Excellent house and pet sitter
Janice was very punctual in arriving at our home prior to our departure. She got along great with our family. Janice did an excellent job caring for our dog, cat, chickens, plants, and home. Our dog got spoiled with daily hikes, and our cat got lots of lap time and snuggles. Janice provided occasional pictures and messages reassuring us of our animals' good care. Upon returning home, our house was spotless and animals all very happy (in fact our feuding dog and cat now mysteriously get along thanks to Janice!) Will definitely be reaching out to Janice again for future travels and would highly recommend!

Janice is the best! Our favorite by far.
Janice has been the best kitty and housesitter we have ever used. She is astute, will follow all the directions you leave her with, problem solve, give your pets lots of love, and leave your home very tidy. We've been lucky to use her for numerous sits now and always hope she's available when we have to travel.

Wonderful Experience
From the moment I met Janice, I knew that my gang would be in good hands. We were able to get together before I was scheduled to leave and went over everything. Janice took notes and immediately bonded with both my dog and my cat. The cat was a stray and doesn't take to people easily. After meeting that day, I felt better about leaving even though Janice wasn't there. She came in a few hours after I left and immediately got in touch to say that she was there and all was well. She kept in touch continually and sent really cute photos which are always appreciated. There were a few questions she had during the stay, and they were quickly resolved with texts back and forth. I came home to a totally clean house and happy animals. I wonder if the animals would have preferred me to stay away longer so they could have continued to enjoy her company. lol If you can arrange for Janice to sit for you, I would definitely recommend it. In fact, I'm hoping she'll come back again - and I know both Emmy and Trip are thinking the same thing.

In the past we have used Trusted Housesitters, but we heard about Janice with MindMyHouse from a friend, who highly recommended her. We signed up with MindMyHouse, and we were elated with Janice. We had the opportunity to meet her well before our 5-week trip to Australia, and it was apparent Janice was organized, caring, respectful, competent, personable, and an excellent communicator. All of these qualities contributed to her excellent performance as a sitter for our two dogs, six chickens, wild birds, extensive house plants, and a greenhouse. At our request, Janice arrived 2 days before we left, made extensive notes of requirements, showed genuine interest in our animals, and we arranged for her to meet a few neighbors in case she needed anything unexpected that might arise. The neighbors loved her, and included her in a number of activities. Janice sent us regular notes and photos through whatsapp, the house and grounds were immaculate when we returned, and the animals were happy and well cared for. Through this experience, Janice became a friend and we've kept in touch with her. We can't recommend her highly enough -guaranteed you'll be happy with Janice as a sitter. In fact, we're working on getting her to go to Australia and housesit for our son and his family when they come to visit us. What better recommendation?!

Fantastic house / dog sitter
Janice was a wonderful sitter. She communicated well with us and made sure to clarify with us any questions she had ahead of time. She took good care of our dog Carson - she even walked him the evening she arrived as we were packing. She kept the house tidy. Would highly recommend her for any house / pet sitting. Janice Bartels, Exceptional Housesitter
From the moment we interacted on the MMH platform, I felt really fortunate to have Janice interested and willing to housesit for us for our 5 week assignment. Her questions were direct and helpful. Not knowing how to check credentials, she was eager to share her social work license with us which was also reassuring. She was willing to come out a day early and experience our home and animals firsthand which was very comforting. Being both new to this process, she was open, flexible and easy for us to work with on all the recommended paperwork. By the time we left for overseas, we had our communication worked out on WhatsApp. On the day we left, she wanted to demonstrate her understanding of the feeding process and review all our directions which she did impeccably. She was obviously very dedicated to doing things the way we wanted them done. The dogs took to her right away and were bonded before we even left! While we were gone, she reported issues which she was concerned about and made sure to troubleshoot the best she could. She cleaned up a big mess which we were sure we would need to carpet clean but we couldn't even find traces of the doggie disaster! She was very good at barricading a place in the fence which was breached by our one dog. Our garden was very prolific and in order to not waste all the produce, she made sure to coordinate giving away all the excess as we had discussed before we left. Many friends and others benefitted from her helping out with this process. We found lots of produce ready for us as well even though we had asked her to enjoy as much as she possibly could. Upon arrival home, all plants and animals were in tip top shape. We felt blessed from the beginning and end of her stay with us. We were blessed by her attentive and very caring, nurturing oversight of our dogs and all living things. Janice even groomed each dog every day, seeing how much they liked it. Now we are doing the same! Highly recommend this friendly, professional and caring person.
