We are Jess and Jannis, a Colombian-German couple traveling trough South America.

About Jannis (23): I consider myself very calm, sensitive and at the same time, explorer. I love nature and the connection with all it’s gifts. I’m fascinated by the silence of the mountains when I do one of my favorites activity which is hiking. I also am passionate about Kundalini yoga, vegetarian cooking, walking the slack-line, playing soccer, swimming, learning about spiritual practices and alternative things like medicine, farming & herbalism. Alongside my entry into the finance and investment industry, I have just started working as an online foreign language teacher.

About Jess (28): I’m quite passionate, sensitive and I get attached very easily to people, places and animals. I love to read, dance, write, meditate, drawing (a little bit) and keep building and working on my personal Psychology brand on social media. I’m a big dreamer and hopefully, I’ll fulfill every single one of them. I love to keep spaces that the Host provide us (which I like to call them ‚Temporary Homes‘) clean, organized and fragrant.

When it comes to house sits, for us, the most important is having a good rapport with our host being followed by maintaining a calm, organized and peaceful environment.

Why they want to house sit

After volunteering for two years in all kind of projects in Panama, Bolivia, Colombia and Ecuador we decided to change our way of exploring South America. We'd like to continue traveling slowly, sustainable and surrounded by pets, and at the same time focus more on our own individual projects and careers. Working remotely requires a quiet and peaceful private space, which we can create for ourselves by housesitting.

Besides that, having a routine and certain responsibilities is something extremely important to us. And it becomes even more important when it's related to pets, as we both love connecting with all kinds of animals.
Tidiness and cleanliness are a matter of course for us and also contribute to our own well-being.

Their experience

We both definitely have some experience, even though it differs from typical housesitting.

In 2021, Jannis "boatsitted" a 60-foot-long sailing boat anchored on the coast of Panama for 4 moths. Meanwhile he also took care of the further crew on board - a dog and a cat - by giving them lots of love, dedication and exercise.

In 2023, together we managed a boutique hotel on the coast of Ecuador (Manabi) in the absence of the owners. This Job not only included business related work (taking care of owners' home, reception, cooking, cleaning, bar, general & financial management, guest service,) but also petsitting the owner's dogs (3) and cats (3). When one of the cats had to undergo emergency surgery, we took on the responsibility of taking her to the hospital several times, providing medical treatment and ultimately contributing to her recovery.

We would also like to mention that in the last two years we have worked as volunteers in various projects (permaculture farm, coffee finca, beach home, holistic retreat center, cultural center, etc.) where we often had to take care of our hosts' property and animals over the weekend (cats, dogs, goats, chickens, etc). We usually stay(ed) between 1,5 and 3 months in one place.

What can they bring to the assignment

As we already mentioned, we have successfully taken on a wide variety of responsibilities over the past few years and are therefore characterized as a trustworthy and responsible couple.

Both of us are fluent in English and Spanish and if necessary or wished, Jannis can make use of his driver's license.

We have lots of love for nature and animals, which serves as the perfect insurance for the wellbeing of your garden and/or pets. We strongly care for our environment.

We both are really honest & authentic people that like to always communicate directly and respectfully. We treat our hosts' home and animals with the same caution, care and love we would treat our own belongings. As we appreciate the fact that someone is making his own home available for us, you can count on our availability during your absence for any questions and needs.
