Married responsible active couple in late fifties

Hello everybody! We are Rebecca and Haydn, a happily married couple of 25 years, who live in Exmouth in Devon. We’re both in our late fifties and I (Rebecca) am a part-time Local Government officer, working 15 hours a week on a flexible basis, completely remotely. My husband Haydn has recently retired. He has run his own finance business for 25 years providing funding for machinery, plant equipment, trucks etc. We are both very young for our ages and simply love travelling independently and would like to see more of the world and meet new people. Hopefully house-sitting would enable us to achieve our ambitions.

Why they want to house sit

We are both very active and our main interest, at our time of life is to travel. We would like to see as much of the world as possible & meet new people. We have done the TUI tours, the 2 week package holiday etc and now we have no time constraints and we can just take off whenever we want to. House-sitting requires flexibility and we think we are ideal candidates. If the owner is delayed on their travels, we do not have to return home for a certain date. We are looking to live like locals and not tourists. We would like to immerse ourselves into the community, look after their animals, water their gardens, put their recycling out!

Their experience

We have owned many properties. These days, we own a lovely property in Devon, which we have completely renovated. Nowadays we only have a small garden which allows us to travel more and more. This is in large contrast to our previous house, which was a country cottage in rural Shropshire with 5 acres. Our offices were in a converted double-garage situated on the property, which allowed us to keep lots of "pets". We had lots of chickens, a couple of pigs, 3 alpacas, lots of sheep & large rams, a donkey, an elderly horse and 2 miniature Shetland ponies. All of these really kept us busy over 15 years. To say we are experienced with a whole range of animals, is a bit of an understatement.

We have also done a three week house sit in France in Summer 2024 at a property with two horses, some hens and a market garden via another website.

What can they bring to the assignment

A wealth of life experiences. Both of us have dealt with people from every walk of life through our work. We have cared for a whole range of animals in our lifetime, from small, domestic pets to large farm animals. We have maintained very large gardens, fields, meadows and a large orchard. We have both held appointments that have carried a lot of responsibility. We are both non-smokers.
