Experienced House Sitter with Over Seven Years of Sits

About this sitter

I am looking forward to getting back to house sitting, since my husband and I stopped during Covid. We started in 2012 and sat until 2019. We had sold our home, and travelled continuously, house and pet sitting. I previously taught school, then had my own wholesale business for 24 years. Once retired, we were looking for a different lifestyle, and house sitting certainly provided that. Sadly, my husband passed away last year, so I am wanting to return to sitting on my own. I feel quite confident in travelling on my own, as I did that during the time I had my business. I’m independent, and look forward to new experiences.

Why they want to house sit

I truly miss the travel, the sweet pets, and the lovely people we met during the years we sat. We made new friends, loved the pets, spending time with them, and of course, loved being a pseudo local. We both preferred longer sits, especially in Europe.

Their experience

I have had over seven years of house and pet sitting, in France, England, Germany, Portugal, Vieques, Canada and the U.S. We did this continually, since we had sold our home. I have wonderful references, that I can provide.
We’ve taken care of pigs, sheep, cats, dogs, and birds. We were able to problem solve, and kept in contact with the owners, frequently. It was a great experience, and we really missed it, once we stopped because of Covid.
We have done wonderful sits in Brittany, Burgundy, Cognac, Provence, in France, sits in Maryland, Tennessee, California, South Carolina, Michigan, Massachusetts, South Carolina, in the States, plus great sits in Canada. Each has its own story, and great memories.

What can they bring to the assignment

I can bring all the experience I garnered during the many years of sitting. Being adaptable was one of the best things that happened, as every sit brings its own challenges, and experiences. I also bring the confidence from so many successful sits. I look forward to spending time with the new pets I will meet. We always found they were great company, and added so much to our sits.Leaving them was often difficult.
