About this sitter
I am a responsible and experienced home sitter who is interested in caring for dogs and/or cats. I am 55 years old with an established career in healthcare support services leadership (clinical nutrition, environmental services) in Ontario, Canada. I currently lead these departments at 4 hospitals. I have grown children and am not married. I have travelled extensively and am not interested in a ‘tourist’ experience.
Why they want to house sit
House sitting offers an affordable travel opportunity. I’m not interested in ‘touristy’ experiences. I’d rather experience local landscapes and have a more quiet time away. I enjoy solo travel, but the opportunity to have the company of pets makes it that much more appealing to me as we can keep each other company :)
Their experience
I have cared for homes and pets for extended periods - up to 6 months at a time. I’ve had family dogs for my entire life and am attentive and caring to all pets. I can offer reference letters upon request outlining my caretaker skills. I also can provide an updated Vulnerable Sector Screening Report (criminal check) as I must have one in order to work in healthcare.
What can they bring to the assignment
Responsible, attentive care for your pets and home. I am clean, organized, and excellent at trouble-shooting issues. I am a good communicator. I enjoy being active and love walks. I am a non-smoker and occasional drinker. ***Please note that I’m available for 1, 2, or 3 week blocks of time during my listed availability calendar.

Shannon came all the way from Canada to look after our house and cats. We initially met on Zoom where we talked about what was needed with regards to the cats and house and got to know one another a little. For the assignment Shannon came the evening before we left to settle in and get her bearings. We spent an pleasant evening together and left the following morning confident that we left house and cats in good hands. All went well, we kept in touch during our trip and everything was perfect on our return. We would highly recommend Shannon as a house sitter.
