About this sitter

We are a homeschooling family who spend our time gaining cultural and educational experiences around the world. Richard is a retired teacher. Laura is a former Executive Assistant, Charity Manager and currently "Home Manager!" ?

Along with our children we enjoy learning new skills and sports including Karate, swimming, cricket, horse-riding and we are all currently learning Spanish to help provide us with more opportunities. The older children are progressing particularly well and are close to fluency.

Why they want to house sit

Our children adore all animals and have adopted many a stray during our travels. They are excellent with nervous animals and have respect for their emotional as well as physical needs.

Since bringing pets on the road is not practical, housesitting gives us the perfect opportunity to care for animals as well as explore new places. As a family we love being close to nature, be it garden, countryside, mountain or beach!

Their experience

Laura is a very experienced house-sitter and has cared for various properties and pets in the UK and France over the years. We all have experience with caring for animals. The older children enjoy grooming and caring for horses as well as horseriding. All the children have helped their cousins care for their rabbits and budgies and their aunt with her golden retrievers.

Cats though, are their true obsession! They have become real experts and we tend to befriend them wherever we go. Even the most nervous stray (Bianca pictured) chooses to be close to us and has become one of our family during our current stay in Central America.

What can they bring to the assignment

"Many hands make light work!" Domestic skills are another aspect of our home education. The children have been taught the skills to manage living spaces well and to work in a calm and harmonious manner. We try to employ the Konmari method of organisation with minimalist principles, so although our family is relatively large, we are clutter-free, very adaptable and creative in making use of even small spaces. We work well as a team and can employ these hard-working, organisational skills and experience to care well for your home as well as giving lots of affection to your beloved pets!
