About this sitter

We’re a calm, capable, and kind-hearted family of three — myself (Sevda), my husband (Michael), and our well-travelled, nature-loving toddler (Robbie). I’m from London and have worked across theatre, film, and cyber security. I’m now a full-time mother, enjoying a slower-paced, meaningful lifestyle. My husband is from California, a screenwriter with a law degree from Pepperdine University, and we’re now based in the UK.

We’re drawn to house sitting because we love peaceful, grounded environments — especially rural homes, cottages, smallholdings or estates — where we can connect with nature, care for animals, and spend quiet time together as a family. We’re looking for sits that are family-friendly, with space for a toddler to explore safely, and responsibilities that include light animal care and general upkeep.

We’re also motivated by a desire to meet people we might never cross paths with otherwise — and to share in ways of living that are different from our own. Rather than traditional holidays, we seek rich, real-life experiences that teach our son respect, responsibility, and curiosity. Through house sitting, he’s learning to care for animals, contribute to daily chores, and appreciate the importance of looking after someone else’s home with kindness and care.

For us, house sitting isn’t just practical — it’s personal. We value connection, trust, and the little moments that make a place feel like home, even just for a while.

Why they want to house sit

House sitting is a beautiful way for our family to explore new places while living intentionally and helping others. We love being part of a quiet rhythm — looking after animals, keeping things clean and calm, and simply being a steady, respectful presence in someone’s home.

As a home-educating family, we’re drawn to opportunities that allow our son to connect with nature and new environments. House sitting lets us step into other people’s worlds with care, respect, and curiosity — and give something meaningful in return.

Their experience

Yes – we have several years of house sitting experience, including multiple long-term sits at a private estate in Oxfordshire. Over the past three years, we’ve returned regularly to care for a range of animals – sheep, goats, cats, dogs, pigs, and ponies – maintain the house and grounds, and even manage holiday guests staying at the main manor.

Sevda has also personally hand-reared two rescue kittens (who are now our beloved family pets) and cared for injured or abandoned small birds. We are gentle, attentive, and quick to notice if an animal isn’t quite themselves – we genuinely enjoy building that quiet trust with them.

We’ve also looked after homes and pets for friends and extended family, and have experience living in both rural and remote locations. We're confident, resourceful, and calm when unexpected things come up (like the occasional goat or pig escapee!)

What can they bring to the assignment

We bring a thoughtful, caring approach and a strong sense of responsibility. We understand how much your home and animals mean to you — and we look after them with the same care we give our own.

As a couple, we’re naturally tidy, practical, and hands-on. One of us is always available to be present and attentive, while the other tends to tasks or childcare. We're friendly, self-sufficient, and easy to communicate with.

You can expect honesty, good energy, and a respectful family who’ll leave your home clean, calm, and exactly how you left it — if not a little better.
