Ruby and Duncan are very friendly and love to be with you.
We are looking for responsible, dog loving sitter(s)that will take care of our beloved Gordon Setters and our home while we travel. Having experience in a foreign country is a plus. We prefer a couple for longer stays as these are big dogs and the property is not within walking distance of town. We also can have big storms in the summer months which can require moving outdoor furniture indoors.
The primary responsibility will be to take care Ruby and Duncan while we travel. They are both very routine oriented; get up around 6:00 am, want to be fed around 7:00 am and then around 7:30 they like to go on a 30 minute walk on leash. There are wonderful walks nearby. They will hang around the rest of the day then are fed again at 4:30 and another 30+ minute walk. The beach is about 5 minutes away. They are both very people oriented and happy just to be with you, though if given the chance Ruby will run away. Our property is fenced in and the only way she can get out is via the pedestrian gate or the car gate. We have an airtag on her collar and my cell number is embroidered on her collar. Duncan has no interest in leaving the property and just loves to be whereever you are. He is a big goofy puppy who is still intact. We are planning to neuter him when he is 18 months old. We have a gardener that comes on Thursday to water the plants and remove any dead palm fronts. We also have a small salt water pool with a large palapa to enjoy reading or relaxing by and a propane BBQ. Responsibilites will also include picking up the dog poop on a daily basis, watering potted plants and taking garbage to the nearby location on Saturday mornings. We also compost all organic waste. In the event of a large storm or hurricane, outdoor furniture will need to be moved indoors.
We have a lovely 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom home located just north of the town of Todos Santos. Our property is located at the end of a short private lane and is completely fenced with a security gate. We are a six minute walk to a beautiful beach that streches for over 30 miles. This is not a swimmable beach as there is a significant undertoe. During late November until the end of March you can see the migration of the Humpback and Grey whales from the beach as well as release baby turtles from the Tortuga Rescue center. Our house is a short 6 minute drive into the town of Todos Santos, where you will find lots of restaurants, shopes and acitivies. Todo Santos is a sleepy pueblo and if you are looking for an active night life, this is not the place. We call 9:00 PM Baja midnight here as almost everything closes by then.
The property is a 6 minute drive to town, though only about a 3 minute drive to nearby restaurants and two small grocery stores. It is not within walking distance of town, though we do provide a car so that you can access all conveniences are with a short 5 - 10 minute drive away.
The dogs are used to someone being around most of the time and love to be with whom ever is in the house. Gordon Setters are active dogs, so need to walked around the neighborhood and/or to the beach twice a day. Experience in a foreign country is desireable though not mandatory and the ability to speak some Spanish is a plus.
No, sorry.
Testimonials
Kindness, generosity and great fun
Susan and Ken are really nice people, very friendly and easy going. Their house is beautiful, super organized , comfortable and has a. swimming pool. We had great fun sitting by the pool reading or sunbathing in our free time. We also had access to their cellar filled with excellent wine. Cody and Ruby, their dogs were super cute, and a joy to be with. Ken even drove us to the bus station in the middle of the night, when we left. We greatly appreciated that. Highly recommend it.
