About this assignment
HOUSE IN THE COUNTRY SIDE OF HAMBURG, GERMANY
We are looking for the services of a reliable, cat and chicken-loving house sitter. Our house is very nicely designed, clean and ready for your tender loving care.
What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
The future house sitter shall live in our house during our absence, feed the cats (4) and the chickens (16) A cleaning of the chicken coop would also be nice, if its a long house sit. In total the sitter shall be nice to the animals!

What are the good features of the property and location
Its located only 30 km away from Hamburg city center, nature all around with birds and deers to watch. You can make a fire or barbeque all year around. The golf club/course is close by, we actually live on a golf course. Good restaurants and a small town with super market etc are only 2 km away.
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
A car makes live easier arround here.. If you don’t have one, maybe you can rent one. Let’s see.

We met anyway - and I'm glad we did!
I was scheduled to sit for Sylvia and Henning, but then the trip they had planned was cancelled on short notice due to the illness of their hosts. They offered to travel somewhere else during that time, so I wouldn't have to change my plans or reimburse me for my travel expenses. During my next assignment at a different host in Hamburg, we decided to meet anyway, and I'm so glad we did. I got to see their nice house and meet the wonderful cats and chickens. It was great to get to know Sylvia and briefly meet Henning, and if the opportunity arises again, I would love to come and sit for them. P.S. I'll be back in Hamburg this summer sitting for another host, and we are planning to meet again for tea, which I very much look forward to.

1 week housesit in nothern germany
Sylvia and Henning are super relaxed, open minded and gave us a warm welcome. We immediately felt very comfortable. They tell you everything you need to know and give you lot of trust. The house is beautiful, surrounded by nature on a golf course, quiet and close to the city of Hamburg. You can go for great walks there. In this week we looked after the chickens and four cats. We all got along very well. They are easy to handle and very cute. We had a great time and really enjoyed it. Thanks a lot and all the Best for you! Daniela and Wilhelm

Happy comeback!
Happily we were choosen again by Sylvia and Henning to take care of their little zoo. It felt a bit like coming home. Very warmly welcomed everything run smoothly as we already knew what needed to be done. We highly recommend to housesit for them in their cosy home. Looking forward to return again in the future....

Lovely home, awesome animals - we had a nice stay!
Sylvia and Henning welcomed us with open arms. The two are very nice, helpful and sociable. We spend the few hours we were together on site talking about everything, were invited to dinner and well introduced to the tasks. Their house is large and beautiful, located on the edge of a golf course and in the middle of nature. You can watch countless birds and occasionally deer. We especially liked the terrace and the large windows in the dining and living room. It was relatively easy to take care of the animals - four cats, fish, some chickens and the two peacocks. At first, almost all the cats were very shy, but that got better with each passing day. Overall, everything went smoothly. During their absence, we were constantly in contact, got tips and excursion destinations, and probably also any help, if we would have needed anything. We can recommend the two as hosts and look forward to the possibility of sitting their house and animals.

Nice wake-up call - Peacocks are around!
We were warmly welcomed by Sylvia and Henning. After having received good instructions how to deal with their little zoo we were invited for dinner in their favourite restaurant before they left for their vacation very early in the morning. We felt right away like being home and we enjoyed our time even though the weather in November has shown at its best how grey and wet it can be... We loved to spend our time with their 4 very individual caracter cats, enjoyed the early bird wake-up calls from the peacocks and to watch the guinea fowls and chicken in the garden. Thank you for the great time!

Very cool mini-farm on a golf-course
Sylvia and Henning go to great lengths to make you feel at home and comfortable with all the animals. They took me to dinner the night before they left and even gave up their bedroom so I could settle in there right away. This way I could smooth into the situation. I had never tended to chicken and peacocks before and all went well. You should definetely be an early bird yourself for those guys. The four cats are very easy-going and come and go as they like. The location is absolutely unique with virtually no neighbours except a sumptuous golf-course. Yet it only takes a couple of minutes by car to the train station and from there Hamburg main station is only 2 stops away (20 minutes). It was a wonderful mix between countryside and big city and I'd be happy to repeat my stay!

Lovely people, cosy place to be
What a wonderful and inspiring experience! Meeting Sylvia and Henning was just like meeting old friends who moved to a new place. They showed us everything we had to know so after their departure we had a good manual of caring for the animals, which is the nicest walk to the bakery and which is a delicious restaurant nearby. We didn´t often go out because of the terrace with beautiful view in front of the house and the animals. We enjoyed every minute in this blessed place. We also loved the company of four really individual cats. It was easy to live together and to learn about their habits. Also the chickens were a pleasure to observe. They have lots of space to enjoy their bird lives and they thank you with delicious eggs. The most important thing to say is that Sylvia and Henning make you feel that their home will be your home for the time of your stay. And that your way of life and your way of managing things will be the right. So we felt very warmly welcomed and we were a bit sad to leave this wonderful, humorous, unconvencial people (and also the wonderful animals). We also had the possibility to meet Matthes and Frank. And we´re sure to stay in contact! See you in Karlsruhe! Hard facts: Nature, nature and nature with garden, birds, flowers, vegetables, fruits also with deer (if you are an early bird). Everthing one could ask for ... and more
While I only live one hour away we did not meet prior to the sit but it did not matter. There were instructions, messages and videos to help me. Especially the video instructions by son Matthes were not only cute but also well done. Thank you, Matthes! The views over the garden and the valley from the terrace or the living room with large windows are stunning! In foggy weather there was something magical about the area. I would get up very early and watch the birds feeding as the day awoke. I could spot deer every morning in the valley right behind the property. The cats were wonderful to take care of. They are all friendly and easy and would cuddle with me. I love chicken so that was a nice extra. There is something comforting and humorous about them. And they give eggs! The area is great for walks and grocery shopping is not far. I enjoyed the stay very much and would love to come again.

Great hosts
Sylvia and Henning are a very friendly and generous couple. The house and garden are wonderful and in excellent condition. They welcomed me warmly and invited me to dinner. The cats are independent and mostly outside but all well behaved. The property is peaceful and the chicken shed is spacious. Although I lost a chicken to a Bussard (14 became 13) Sylvia and Henning showed much understanding, which I really appreciated. There's a detailed manual available and plenty of tips what is worth a visit. Absolutely recommendable for singles or couples who like nature and a relaxing environment. Thumbs up!

Sylvia and Henning are such wonderful people and great company, they made us feel very welcome in their beautiful, peaceful and comfortable house, we felt at home immediately and we had a wonderful time there. Their lovely cats are very easy to look after. The house is in the countryside on a golfcourse and has stunning views over the fields. It is very tranquil and a perfect place to relax. As quiet as it is it is also a short drive away from the local villages which is very convenient. There are beautiful nature reserves close by where you can go hiking. And also Hamburg is absolutely worth visiting, a very surprising city. All in all a wonderfull place to be and we definitely want to housesit for them again in the near future, no doubt :-)

Chickens, cats and amazing views
Sylvia and Henning are very nice, helpfull and caring hosts. Their house is bright and comfortable with garden and a superb terras with a great view. The cats are easygoing and the chickens lovely and they give you plenty of eggs. Seevetal is a good location for visiting Hamburg within a short trainride. And also for walks in the nature and cycling tours.
