About this assignment
Neat, tidy, responsible, caring with cats, non-smoker. Must have own vehicle in case transport to vet is needed. Willing to care for house and indoor plants, water outdoor plants, empty litter boxes, feed cats, bring in mail. Willing to communicate frequently through text or phone calls.
What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
Maintain clean and tidy household and care for 2 cats. Scoop out litter boxes every day. Change litter bag weekly and change and wash out litter boxes entirely every couple months. Keep liter box space tidy by sweeping and vacuuming frequently. Water indoor plants. Clean up any messes cats may create inside house. Owner has 2 small outdoor fountains fed by rain barrels and several bird feeders. Sitter would need to fill bird feeders as they are emptied and observe fountains to insure they are operating smoothly. Some outdoor plants also require monitoring in case of drought conditions when frequent watering would be needed.
What are the good features of the property and location
House has modern appliances, dishwasher, washer/dryer, located in a small community with clubhouse and outdoor pool. Location offers easy access to shopping, 3 miles to Cape May Ferry, Cape Henlopen State Park and Lewes Beach, plus Delaware Public Library. Barely a mile to 25-mile Breakwater bike trail (bikes available to use) through natural preserves, marshes and beach dunes. My space has 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, screened in porch, and 3-car garage. WiFi and cable tv also operating. Access to community swimming pool.
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
Do you have reliable transportation? Do you enjoy independent minded cats who like regular feedings and sometimes sleep in the same bed? Please provide several professional references and/or police background checks when applying. Need to have a mobile phone for easy access to communicate any needs or issues that may arise.

Gail was a wonderful host! Her home is in a lovely quiet neighborhood within walking and bicycling distance to stores, historic Lewes, Rehoboth Beach and wonderful touring trails. Maybelle and Foxy are both very expressive and diversified cats with distinct personalities and I so enjoyed playing with them! I stayed in contact with Gail throughout the time there and sent various photographs of the cats for her enjoyment.
