1 elderly dog, Holly, .
House near LA ROMANA, ALICANTE. Our house sitters should be kind, caring and considerate. They might be adventurous and looking to enjoy aspects of country life in Spain. Fit and able persons who are resourceful and able to use own initiative would be very welcome. Do not need to be DIY experts. We have had many sets of sitters and they looked after the animals and house very well. We provide utilities such as Internet, electricity, some wood . (you buy cooking/drinking water) and will leave a spare gas bottle. When it runs out you pay for the next one at the garage, however they usually last a very long time. Skype is on computer. We like Whatsapp.we are looking for a long term sitter or might be able to split.
We would like our house sitters to take care of our outdoor dog, Holly, very soppy but loyal. Feed twice a day and give her a short walk and a bit of attention, e.g. a bit of brushing now and again. Visit vet if required. We have an account with Salvador, vet in Novelda.
When the weather is hot turn on irrigation system for trees - mainly fruit and olive. Minimal housework. The house to be kept clean and tidy and rubbish removed. Breakages to be replaced.
A bit of weeding from time to time would be appreciated in the tiny front garden and courtyard. The neighbouring farmer ploughs our land and then wew? only have to do a bit of watering, irrigation tap turned on.
The property is spacious with lots of terraces and fruit trees out front. The house is a typical Spanish old Finca with 3 bedrooms, big kitchen diner, large lounge, wet room/bathroom, ensuite and another cloakroom toilet. Quiet, but not remote, no immediate neighbours so only for those who do not mind peace and quiet. 5 minute drive to the village or 40 minute walk. No busses , so own car is essential.
House has large TV, internet and we use Whatsapp and facetime. There is a washing machine. There are two wood burners, one in the lounge and one in the kitchen/dining-room. We provide some wood for the fire. We would prefer non smokers and moderate drinkers. If smoking outside when we are there please smoke on a different terrace. I am not anti-smoking but it affects my lungs. Same applies to E ' cigarettes. And of course, no smoking in the house.
Consider the location - up in the hills, rustic farmhouse, so not for those who are perhaps townies. You need your own transport here so a VEHICLE is a must. Please do not apply unless you have a vehicle (car). The house is 2 km from the village. Not necessary to speak Spanish as English speakers around in village of La Romana.
This assignment would be better suited to people who can leave behind their centrally-heated home with shops nearby in 'suburbia' and enjoy a different life in the peaceful beauty of the hills and all it has to offer in rural Spain. This is a place where you can get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. We expect our sitters to be self-sufficient and able to cope with minor problems, e.g., a leaking pipe or a dog needing to be taken to the vet. We are always at the end of a phone and email.
We check and take up references.
We are looking for someone who might .be interested in a long term sit from approximately 18th April, 2025
No, sorry.

Lovely people!
I'm happy to have met this wonderful couple: Margaret and Brian. We took care of their dog Holly, and looked after their house. They were not only friendly and nice, but very helpful in many ways. Lovely people!

Place to go back to
I spend 8 weeks in this house and with these sweet dogs. Beautiful area for walking, especially at the end of winter / early spring, when the almond trees start to bloom. Not too far away from shops for daily shopping (car needed), and nice trips in the area. Margaret and Brian are very nice and friendly people, and some friends of them live in the neighborhood, if anything may happen. A place to go back to.

Helpful Homeowners, Lovely Home With Pool And Sweet Pets Made For A Great Stay In Spain
We enjoyed our stay in this lovely home with a pool that offered mountain views and country walks with the dogs. Although the home is remote it's not far from nearby towns with shops, restaurants, clinics and larger cities too. A great area of Spain to use as a base to explore the Alicante area, white sandy beaches, and historic villages.. The homeowners were very helpful in providing us with all that we needed to care for their three dogs and one cat and to make our stay enjoyable. We would not hesitate to sit for these homeowners again and surely will keep in touch and remain friends.

Margaret, La Romana, Spain.
Margaret & Brian a lovely couple to sit for. Don, Holly & Roger three great dogs to take on great walks. Smurf loved to sit in front of the fire in the evenings. Beautiful location, rural, rustic and away from the crowds. We are going back again this year, and probably more in the future.
