Cat sitting in beautiful Hampshire

About this assignment

We are looking for a cat-lover who is willing to be company for Minnie, our beautiful black cat, and Freddie, our friendly tabby. Both cats can be a bit shy at first but once they get to know you they are friendly and affectionate. Freddie loves company, while Minnie is more independent but they're both very sweet.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Both cats need two meals a day, lots of strokes and - if it's not too hot - someone to cuddle up to at night. They are fairly independent and come and go according to their own timetable but generally wish to eat first thing in the morning and then early evening, by about 6pm. I'd also like a sitter who will respect my property, keep the house tidy and be considerate of the neighbours. If the weather is dry,I'd also appreciate someone who'd be willing to run the hose over the garden and water the houseplants.

What are the good features of the property and location

Ours is a 3-bed house in the village of Old Alresford, one mile from the centre of New Alresford, a charming and picturesque small Georgian town. We have unrestricted parking on the street outside but the town is an easy and pleasant walk, past watercress beds or along the River Itchen with its swans and ducks. There's everything you need there, including two butchers, a bakery and two small supermarkets, as well as a superb wine merchant and more cafés and pubs - all serving excellent food and drink - than you'd know what to do with! The house offers plenty of space, with a well-appointed kitchen and utility room, two bathrooms (one a shower room downstairs), and a comfortable sitting room with Sky TV, Netflix, Amazon (plus lots of other streamers) on the television. The main bedroom is a good size with a comfortable kingsize bed. The second has a small double. The third is a small single room. There is WiFi throughout the house. We have a good-sized garden at the back, with a pond and a couple of seating areas for outside dining or just chilling in comfy seats if the weather is fine. We are an easy walk into the town centre, from where there are regular buses into the historic and ancient city of Winchester, capital of King Alfred's Wessex. From there, you can travel by train to London in about an hour. Portsmouth and Southampton are also easily reachable by road or rail, as is the New Forest, which boasts wonderful coastal and countryside locations to visit.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

The assignment would suit a couple or a small family, who love spending time in nature and are happy with a fairly quiet, rural location. There are lots of towns and cities within easy reach, loads of historic places to visit, and there are plenty of footpaths around, by which to explore the beautiful Hampshire countryside right on the doorstep.
