About this assignment

We are looking for a responsible housesitter (ideally a couple) to take care of our cat and house in Cusco. It's at the same time remote and still 15 min from the centre of Cusco. The house is perfect for making long walks and discovering the many hidden ruins you can find throughout the area.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Our cat, Mais, will be your primary concern and the usual care for our house and plants. Our cleaning lady will continue to clean twice a week while you are there. I make bean-to-bar chocolate and keep a stock at home.

What are the good features of the property and location

Cusco is the golden city of the Incas, and still today, it's a magical place. Our house is located on one of the 4 old Inca access roads by which you can get to the center of the plaza in 15 min. At the same time, you're in the middle of nature, surrounded by mountains, birds, wild guinea pigs, eagles, and half-uncovered ancient temples. The house has pretty good thermic conditions, is well lit, and has a fireplace. There is a fully equipped home-office with fast internet.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

You'll be living at the altitude of 3600 m.a.s.l. Oxygen is scarce, and doing extreme physical exercise is more challenging. Typically you adapt in a matter of weeks, after which it becomes much more manageable but never the same as at sea level. So be mindful of this, especially if you're into heavy exercise. That being said, it's excellent training to get into shape, and you will outperform anyone at sea level after training at this altitude for a while.
