About this assignment
Reliability, consideration and cleanliness. Happy is good too of course. You should have experience with large dogs - he is about 36kg and athletic.
What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
Walk and feed the dog twice a day and keep him happy - easy! Keeping an eye on plants in the garden that might need watering.

What are the good features of the property and location
The house is situated in a fairly quiet village with a bar and restaurant (open Friday to Sunday) and close to the larger town of L’isle Jourdain which has all other facilities. There are 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, kitchen/breakfast, dining room and sitting room.
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
Murphy needs two walks per day, morning and evening. He is fed twice a day. On this occasion I need sitters for about 14 days. You should be able to drive and be okay to have the dog in the car. There are walks locally from the house, but Murphy has separation anxiety so needs to go where you go.

We have house / dog sitted for Nigel & Karen in two occasions. The "boys" are very funny and easy to look after, they can impress you because of their big size, but they behave as lap dogs, if they have the chance, they will ask you to sit on your lap for a short nap. Walking off the lead, they answer to the whistle in a few seconds. Karen & Nigel are great host, it was very easy to communicate and organice our trip with them. The house and the area is a great place, very easy going, great walks to go to, Tomar is an amazing city!

2 fun loving big dogs
This is a great house-sit if you want to experience the beauty of rural Portugal. Located in the center of Portugal, the peace and views won't disappoint. Nigel and Karen are outstanding hosts. They were well organized, thoughtful and very welcoming.. This sit is in their brand new home in the countryside, overlooking the lake. Beamish and Murphy are 2 large, well trained and gentle dogs. It was a pleasure to care for them and we enjoyed walking and playing with them. They are trained to come back with the use of a whistle, so it makes the recall very easy for the house-sitters. We loved having fresh eggs from a handful of hens. We would be happy to go back to Karen & Nigel at another time.
