About this assignment
I know it is short notice but we had a sitter that has had to deal with a medical issue, so we are in need of a new sitter. We may be able to break this down based on availability of sitters, let me know your availability. We want someone to care for our dog and our home! House is a new build low maintenance Rancher. It has three bedrooms, two bathrooms and is open concept with beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean and Coastal mountains. Steps to many walking , hiking, biking trails, two blocks to the waters edge. Quiet neighbourhood, friendly neighbours. Non smoking home and that is one requirement we have for the sitter.
What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
“Sophie” is our dog and number one priority! She is low maintenance and lives to walk, our home is also fenced in so she will do her business in the yard if you don’t feel like walking her some days. The area around us has many walking areas, either on the quiet roads or even quieter forested trails. The house is not a lot of upkeep so really just want it lived in. Our house is very tidy and we expect the sitter to maintain as we do. References will be required!
What are the good features of the property and location
Low maintenance, centrally located, bus route very close. Climate here is coastal, winter months have rain and the odd chance of snow that usually disappears the next day.Temperatures are mild but can go to freezing in the winter but not a regular occurrence.
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
I know it is short notice but we had a sitter that has had to deal with a medical issue, so we are in need of a new sitter, we may be able to break this down based on availability of sitter. We are somewhat of an isolated community that is accessible by ferry and air travel. Town has everything from hospital to rec center with pool, ice rinks, pickleball courts, workout center. The town lacks nothing and is a very busy friendly place. A car would be an asset and there will be parking in the garage for it.

Amazing Housesit!
Dale and Cori were amazing homeowners and hosts. They were both very friendly and easy going. They provided me with enough information about the house and routines and were generous with their home. They were always quick to reply with any questions I had. Their dog Sophie was one of my favorites! She is a joy to take care of - very loving and fun! Best Sit Ever ( and we've done lots)
We have been "Sitting" for nearly 5 years now and - bar none - this was our best experience. Powell River is a welcoming community full of great people, has good shopping, fabulous weather and lots to do. Dale and Cori are warm and engaging. Their home is new and organized, tastefully furnished, clean and comfortable and they made sure there was lots of space for us and our things. The sit was 3+ months - so we had "some things" for sure. Sophie - their Yorkie/Pom cross - was a bundle of love and obedience. Our walks with her helped us meet the neighborhood - everyone knew her - and her owners - and they all accepted us as part of the community. They made room for our car in the indoor garage.... fed us dinner twice before they left ... and rolled with schedule changes with ease. Before they left, we met family and friends - and they were very helpful with Sophie care when needed. Communication was fast and productive...and they even brought us a lovely wooden carved platter on their return. So happy we discovered Powell River and Dale and Cori. We will be back. Vic & Cathie
