About this assignment

We seek a mature person or couple to mind our home and yard when we travel, mostly during the summer, but occasionally at other times of the year. Typical summer needs are several weeks at a time, plus shorter periods during winter.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Take in the mail, water the houseplants and garden, feed pond fish and top up water if necessary. Gardening experience is especially appreciated. Great for folks moving into the area.

What are the good features of the property and location

Our home is close to the five-college area and to all shopportunities, with half an acre of gardens, a pond, and mature trees. The house is air-conditioned, parking is off-street, and the neighborhood is very quiet. Walking and hiking trails abound, including right through the backyard. Great for bird watching. Or enjoy the fish and frogs in the pond.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

Taking care of the garden so the beds will be healthy and the pond so the water level is adequate, and taking care of the house so that our space is lived-in and well-managed are our priorities.
