About this assignment

We need a reliable, honest, housesitting couple or individual, experienced in looking after dogs. Mabel and Izzy are very easy going and will make you laugh all day long. They are very bonded and attached to people, so you must be okay with having no personal space! You must have an appreciation of the countryside and not leave them for more than 4 hours a day.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Mabel and Izzy were adopted in January 2025. Their past is unknown, but given that they were found abandoned, each with over a kilo of matted hair and malnutrition, gives an indication of their abuse before coming to us. Despite this, they are the most loving pair of girls you can imagine. Nothing better than getting right up close and personal, and following you everywhere. Their separation anxiety was off the scale when we first adopted them, but they are getting better at being left for short periods, but we would prefer them to enjoy your company and not be left day in, day out. They are great in the car, and this area is very dog friendly, so why not explore with them?

What are the good features of the property and location

We are in a beautiful rural location, three miles from the town of Ludlow. There are lots of fabulous places to visit if you like the open countryside and gardens, do lots of walking and like to visit great pubs. The surrounding towns and villages are very quaint, and if you like the cities, you can also get to Shrewsbury, Hereford, Worcester, and Kidderminster within 50 minutes by car.

If you just want to relax, our home is comfortable, spacious and perfect for kicking back and chilling. We have far reaching beautiful rolling countryside around us.

Our house has all mod cons and is extremely comfortable.

We have a fully fitted professional gym for those who like to keep fit.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

Mabel and Izzy's welfare is paramount. They like to have one long walk a day, and plenty of supervised garden exercise. We have a couple of acres, so there's plenty of ball throwing allowed. We have beautiful countryside right on our doorstep, so it will be a pleasure, not a burden!
At the time of writing (April), their training is still a work in progress, but they are very well behaved and friendly. However, they do like to be close at all times and we haven't perfected leaving them downstairs at night, and they do have their own bed in our bedroom. It may be that you might have to do the same with them in the guest bedroom, but the bedroom is very big and they won't disturb you! Sorry if this puts you off, but our dogs are family and mean everything to us.

The start date of the assignment is the evening before we depart, as I would like you to get used to their routine before we leave, and get familiar with the house.

You will need a car, as shops, pubs and supermarkets are 3+ miles away.

Can I bring my own pets?

No, sorry.

Fun with Tucker and Pheebs!

This was one of the best housesits I've had so far. Ria and Phil are extremely warm and friendly people, what's more they are generous and kind. Phil met me at the station on my arrival and drove the ten miles back to their absolutely terrific house. It really is wonderful, so spacious and comfortable, with Alexa and Netflix (didn't use the latter), a superb kitchen with every conceivable accessory and a splendid bookshelf full of some great SF titles (thanks Phil!) the house is situated abt two miles out of tenbury in some very beautiful countryside. walks with the dogs were amazing past fields with sheep and very young lambs. plenty of bird and animal life. a real delight. i was able to borrow a bicycle (thanks again phil!) and cycled to tenbury several times and further afield on other occasions. check out st michael's church, practically on the doorstep, it's a fine example of victorian gothic revival architecture. oh yeah - the bed. possibly the most comfortable i've ever had the pleasure to sleep on! wonderful. but best of all - tucker the grunter and snorter, and phoebe the cute little terrier. honestly tucker, he's no oil painting but he sure makes up for it with bags of personality. i became very fond of him. both pets are good natured and very rarely bark. low maintenance guys and great company. thanks so much to everyone for making me feel so welcome - this was an awesome experience in a lovely part of the world!!!!!!!
