About this assignment
Animal lover who will take care of my pets like their own. Responsible and observant - keep an eye on things so you know when things aren't quite right. Able to administer meds if necessary.
What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
Care for 1 dog and 2 cats, but being a real cat lover is essential - The cats rule the house. Dog walking optional but very much appreciated - she has a doggie door and fenced back yard, but loves walks on the beach at low tide. Keep the bird feeders clean and full. Basic housekeeping. Minimal yard work - water if necessary, pick up the yard if the wind blows things down. A bit of a garden - dilapidated as it is - so a little weeding would help the tomatoes grow. Anything additional is up to you.
My B&W kitty, Gumby has recently finished chemotherapy but is doing well. She gets 1 pill/day, but usually just grind it up and mix with some wet food. She has been spoiled during 6 months of chemo, so needs a little extra attention and would be extremely happy if she could fall asleep with you.
What are the good features of the property and location
Nice house, near the beach (Atlantic). Quiet, uncrowded neighborhood, small town. Wonderful, loving pets who will be happy to adopt you. Have someone who will come clean every other week, and a lawn mowing service. Have bikes, kayaks, paddleboards and surfboard available. And some really great 4-legged companions! Great eating and drinking options (many on the water) in walking/biking distance.
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
If you want big city action - this is not for you. If you want access to lots of shopping malls - this is not for you. If you rely on public transportation, Uber and Lyft are your only options. If you like quiet, nature, birds, walks on the beach - you should consider this. At this point the dates can be flexible for the right match. Won't make final plans until everything is set.

Fabulous housesit, hope to return!
Kathy has created a wonderful home with fun, lovable pets and easy routines. She welcomed my partner and I the day before she left and set us up with everything we needed. The house is fantastically well-situated within easy access to beaches, town, and outdoor adventures while being tucked in a quiet walkable neighborhood. The guest suite is very comfortable, the wifi speeds worked well for remote work, and it was easy to stay on top of everything in the house and yard with Kathy's instructions and contractors. Bedrooms & laundry are up some significant stairs and there are a lot of automated/electronic/app-based house things, so if you're not up for that, it might not be the best fit, but Kathy was great to explain things and leave it up to us if we wanted to use them or not. We've fallen hard for the fur crew here - Arrow is playful, well-trained, and all around an A+ dog. Cleo is the queen but will teach you her ways if you let her - hint - she really loves it when you leave her a spot between you and the edge of the couch/chair for her to snuggle in. And Gumby....Gumby is a character! A ferocious hunter when she's on a roll outside, but also cheerful and sweet inside with a unique nose/headbutt and will be drooling in no time if you get her purring on your chest. It was great to stay connected with Kathy - she's responsive if needed and relaxed and trusting about everything. We appreciate her generosity with her adventure toys and overall attitude. If we ever have an opportunity again we'll be back!

Excellent Experience All Around
My husband and I had the privilege of caring for Kathy's home and her 3 fur babies during the holiday season. She had a spacious, comfortable home with a large, private yard located 3 blocks from the ocean/beach. The downtown area of Ft. Pierce is a short drive away with tons of recreational options close by as well. Kathy was so welcoming and helpful. She did a great job of orienting us when we arrived so we had very few questions, but when we did she was quick to respond. She made us feel "at home" immediately. The "kids": Arrow (adorable scruffy terrier), Gumby (spunky black and white kitty) and Cleopatra (her name speaks for itself) are all well behaved, easy-to-be-around pets. Arrow is well trained, obedient and great on a leash, so fun to walk. She loves her toys and treats. Gumby is a cuddler who will end up on your chest nudging your chin on the couch after dinner. Cleopatra is more reserved, but after she gets used to you she will ask for pets and snuggle in next to you on occasion. It was a pleasure and a treat to fill in for Kathy, take care of her crew and explore the Florida coast a bit. Highly recommend.

Well behaved animals & beautiful place!
I pet/house sat for Kathy in April/May 2022. It was a great experience. Kathy was very friendly and easy going. She was easy to communicate with and interesting to talk to. She was very thorough in going over all the things I needed to know. The animals, Cleopatra (cat), Gumby (cat) and Arrow (dog) were all sweet as can be. I was amazed at how well behaved Arrow was. She listened well and was very easy to walk on a leash. We went in the early morning hours to the beach three blocks away and had a nice walk/run along the water. Kathy's house is absolutely beautiful. My bedroom was a suite, with its own bathroom, sitting area, and big screen TV. If you get a chance to pet/house sit for Kathy, Cleopatra, Gumby, and Arrow, definitely do it!
