About this assignment
A single person or couple, (sorry no kids) to look after my two cats, Tara and Matangi. Someone who has experience and a love for cats and who will give them affection.
This is short notice, but the dates are also flexible so if you can not make the date mentioned then let me know your preference.
I am English and my French is basic but with translator apps it doesn't matter what language you speak as we will be able to communicate.
Ideally this housesit would suit nature lovers.
What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
To feed my two cats three times a day, to give them treats and affection. They are quite shy so someone who will take time to build a rapport with the cats. If you take day trips out then you can feed them before you leave and when you come back, it is not so strict on when you feed them.
What are the good features of the property and location
The house is being renovated so the property is a little rough around the edges, however the rooms you will use are very clean. I have a wood stove that keeps the rooms very cosy. The south facing garden is very large and peaceful with great views. Being so remote the stars at night are truly amazing and you can use a fire pit to make it even more cosy.
I am also about 30 minutes away from the wine region of Sancerre, Pouilly Fumé where you can do wine tours and visit the vineyards. Also a bit further away is Chablis.
There are markets that happen often the best ones are on Saturday at Toucy (20 minutes away) and Wednesday at St Sauveur (10 minutes away) For day trips you can visit the Morvan national park, or Vezelay where there is a beautiful abbey. The closest city is Auxerre which is 50 minutes away.
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
Ideally you need a car as i am remote. There is a small supermarket 8kms away and larger towns and supermarkets about 20-25 minutes. If you come by bicycle i can pick you up at a nearby train station.
There is superfast 400mb wifi, but i don't own a tv so you may want to bring a laptop. I do have a projector you can use.
The gateway entrance to the house is small, cars and vans are ok but motorhomes might be too be big to enter.

Rene is a wonderful kind person with a beautiful fur family, Matinga and Tara. They live in the stunning wine region near Sancerre, Tiegny and the Loire Valley in France. Matinga and Tara have a cat flap so they can come and go as they please. They are very independent and come for cuddles on their terms. Matinga is the chatty one while Tara is the quieter shyer one. Renes house is an old rustic farmhouse and outbuildings which he is renovating. With so many doors and nooks and crannies, an amazing place to explore. it has a massive south facing garden which is more like a field, stocked with various fruit trees and flowering bushes. It is on a very quiet road with hardly any neighbours and the neighbours are far enough away to not even know they are there. Once you enter into Renes farmhouse you are entering another world. We were lucky enough to get a meteor shower whilst we were there due to no light pollution at all and we were laid in the garden all night, it was mesmerising and we didn’t want to go in. You are about 10 mins drive to supermarkets and a little town. You will need a car or a bike or even like walking to cat sit here. If you want peace and quiet with a wonderful furry family this is it.
