About this assignment

Hello! We are looking for a single or couple who loves animals and would like to take a week off in the Colorado mountains. Perfect for remote workers and anyone who enjoys the peacefulness of winter.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

We have two dogs, two cats, four goats, and six chickens on a 4-acre "ranchette" on the Western Slope of Colorado. House-sitting responsibilities include daily care of the animals. The chickens roost in a coop at night, but are let out to "free-range" each morning. Care of the chickens is minimal, and they will reward you with fresh eggs. Our 4 friendly goats need fresh water, hay, and feed daily. The dogs and cats are fed twice daily. The property is completely fenced in so the dogs can be let out without concern. The dogs are pretty chill, so need to take them on long walks, but they do enjoy it if you walk (or snowshoe) with them around the yard a couple times a day.

What are the good features of the property and location

Our three-bedroom home is warm and cozy, comfortable and spacious for a single or couple, with beautiful views surrounded by pasture land, mountains, and sage meadows. We have a finished walk-out basement that includes a spacious bedroom (queen size bed) and full bathroom, as well as a pool table. Enjoy the brilliant stars at night while sitting in the hot tub. We are 25 minutes north and east of the town of Rifle, CO at an elevation of 6400 feet, nestled between mountain ranges. If you are an outdoor recreation enthusiast, we've got a variety of options close by. Because of our proximity to the mountains, we have some terrific snowshoeing and cross-country skiing in the nearby White River National Forest. If you are a skier, Vail and Beaver Creek Resorts are an easy 75 minute drive up I-70. Aspen and Snowmass are also about 90 minutes. We are also about 20 miles from Glenwood Springs and their hot springs resorts.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

Our road is paved and plowed by the county but, because of our elevation, it can be icy in spots in the winter. We are 20 minutes from the nearest town so this sit would be best for someone who appreciates solitude and peace-and-quiet.

Can I bring my own pets?

No, sorry.
