About this assignment

Responsible and capable couple or competent individual with farm and ranch experience. Must be able to care for two horses, three goats, four chickens, and an indoor cat and 3 barn cats. Also water the indoor plants. The home is heated by a wood boiler which requires refueling twice a day. Previous house sitting references required.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Daily chores include feeding the horses and goats and indoor cat. The wood stove outside the home needs to be stocked with wood each morning and evening. Keep the wild bird feeders filled with bird seed. General care and maintenance of the home and 153 acre property.

What are the good features of the property and location

Gorgeous home with views in all directions. 80 acres of woodlands, 40 acres of pollinator fields and a limestone creek make this one of the most beautiful properties in Ohio.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

Must be familiar with the workings of a ranch. We pasture our horses except for during extreme weather. You will need to be strong enough to throw wood in the fire and smart enough to troubleshoot any issues along the way. We have a company to shovel the driveway, but you will need to keep the walkway clear of any snow. We don't get snow very often, but when we do, it is beautiful! We are a seasonal wedding venue, closed in the winter except for tours. Our tour guide will be conducting property tours during your assignment. You will responsible for keeping the property clean and will need to clear a path or two if tours are scheduled and there is snow on the ground.

Can I bring my own pets?

No, sorry.
