1 horse 2 sheep 2 chickens
Kind and capable, clean, tidy and honest people who are good with animals and can take the initiative of the general running of house and garden. It is helpful if they are able to speak a little French, but not essential. They will need a car here as we are out in the country though only a few kilometres to the nearest town.
To keep the house secure, tidy and everything functioning as per normal. It would be appreciated that plants in pots are watered if necessary and the lawns mown (ride on). Any gardening is welcomed but not essential. The horse is sweet and friendly and likes to see people around and needs to be checked that he looks well and his water trough is filled. If you have some horse experience then he would love a little grooming. He is very easy to do. From time to time his poops need to be collected from his field a little job that should take no more than 10 mins! He lives out in our field all year with two little sheep. Our 2 rescue hens need feeding and their house has an automatic door.
An attractive house recently built but in the typical Breton style. It has underfloor heating and all mod cons and is light and airy. It is set in its own grounds with a lovely garden and views down the field and is bordered by forest on one side, farmland on the other. Good walking. It is located in a hamlet and about 6 Kms/4 miles from our local town which has all amenities and nice restaurants, supermarkets, vet, doctor etc. The area is pretty rolling countryside not far from the lovely Blavet river but plenty of forests to walk in too. A 35 min drive will get you to the lovely coastline with long beaches and the pretty area of the Gulf of Morbihan with its 365 islands. The lovely old port city of Vannes is also close and the area offers many tourist attractions and good shopping. It is well connected by road and autoroutes.
They will need a car. It is in the country. They need to be sensible, careful and tidy. An understanding of French is desirable but not essential. The house and garden are easy to run but common sense is most important which also applies to keeping an eye on the horse. Completely unsuitable for people with no animal experience or have fear or horses and not suitable for those with horse/dog hair allergy. Security is important to us and the house obviously needs locking when you are out and about.
Yes
Restrictions: one well behaved mature dog allowed not to be left alone

2 Lovely Weeks.
Melissa and Mike could not of been more welcoming. 2 lovely people in a beautiful home in the Brittany countryside. The little town of Baud is only a short drive away, with everything you would need. Lots of walks in the nearby forest, or along the Blavet at Pont Augan, just lovely. Looking after Kessie was no hardship, such a gentle soul who enjoys human contact and a nice brushing. We also got to meet Purdy, their elderly black labrador, who is also lovely gentle soul. So all in all, 2 weeks that could not be any better for us, unless it could have been 2 months. Thank you Melissa and Mike, it was a pleasure to meet you both.
