We have two Spanish Galgo rescue dogs that are very affectionate and love people. Not yet good with other dogs.

About this assignment
Preferably a mature couple with good experience with dogs.
Someone who will respect our wishes regarding the way the dogs are cared for. The dogs are easy but they do have their own requirements.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
We have recently arrived in Spain and need to return to Visit friends and family in the UK
We need someone to look after the dogs in a proper manner, as we would ourselves.
That is all we ask. After that enjoy the house and surroundings
What are the good features of the property and location
Amazing location on the shore of a huge lake with access from the garden. The guest bedrooms has a balcony overlooking the lake and surrounding hills.
We are very rural in a peaceful hamlet with no near neighbours. Many country walks nearby.
The nearest town with amenities is 10 minutes drive away, so own transport is essential.
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
We never leave our dogs unattended for more than 3 hours... 4 at a push, so day excursions are not possible . However there is much to do and see in and around the area for nature lovers..
If you need a quiet time to relax, study, or even work remotely then this is a great location.

A fantastic housesit in Galicia, Spain
It was a real pleasure to be able to look after Sandy and Mike’s lovely home this summer. The large, comfortable house is beside an expansive lake, in a gorgeous setting. Lots of nature! It was also great to meet and look after their sweet Galgos, Luis and Amigo, who were so adorable. Sandy and Mike are lovely people and were the perfect hosts, making us most welcome, giving us a tour of the premises and explaining everything about the place, the dogs and what they needed us to do. They made us feel relaxed and very much at home. The house was an absolute gem! It included a well-equipped kitchen, a very comfy bedroom with beautiful views over the lake, a lounge, a conservatory/patio etc. Luis and Amigo are so easy to look after. They are very well-behaved and affectionate. The local area has a lot of interesting villages to visit, as well as beautiful countryside, exotic gardens and castles/ruins. The beautiful city of Santiago de Compostela is also only 40 minutes drive away. Overall, we very highly recommend sitting for Sandy and Mike, and we hope, depending on our schedule, that we can visit them sometime in the future. Cheers, Sandy and Mike! Amazing experience
Doing the house sitting for Mike & Sandy was a great pleasure, they are very friendly and easy going hosts. The dogs were very easy to look after and they only wanted to be cuddle. The house and the location was a paradise! We'll go again if the opportunity appears

Wonderful country 'retreat!'
This was our first time house sitting and it went perfectly! We were given good directions to arrive there and were told a little about the area and their neighbours. We arrived to tea and delicious homemade cake by Sandy. We were introduced to their lovely dogs and shown around. We were given clear instructions re their walks, care and feeding. In the evening we were treated to a delicious homemade meal by Mike. The location in the forest overlooking a lake was wonderful, offering a lot of peace, tranquility and star gazing of an evening. The house was amazing too and very comfortable. We had a beautiful room with a terrace overlooking the lake. We had taken games, cards, etc. with us but didn't even use them nor watch the TV as it was so lovely to take in the peace and sit outside on the terrace. The house is located about 10 minutes drive from the nearest town where we went a couple of times to top up our shopping. We also drove to the other side of the lake to see the boat club that Mike and Sandy told us about. The drive is lovely and it was so quiet we barely saw another car. There is a bar/restaurant a short drive from the house and we had a lovely chat with the owner there and a meal on our last evening. Mike and Sandy were very welcoming and friendly, and said we could use whatever was already in the fridge/house. They have an amazing coffee machine too which we enjoyed each day. They kept in touch with us while they were away and we updated them with photos and videos too. We loved the dogs as they are all very friendly and gentle. The country walks from their house are lovely and they also have an enclosed area where we enjoyed watching the greyhounds run. This was just such a lovely, genuine experience in a beautiful home and location, and one that we would love to repeat. The bar has been set very high now!
