About this assignment
To look after our dog Jack and walk him every day. To water the plants in the garden and indoors during the warmer hotter months.
Jack is an 8 year old collie/German Shepherd cross. He was rescued from Dog’s Trust 7 years ago.
Jack is a very easy going and friendly dog. He doesn’t have any specific needs and is happy with a decent walk and time on the sofa.
What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
Water the plants and walk Jack. Feed Jack twice a day. Good communication whilst we are away. Ensure house is safe and secure please.
What are the good features of the property and location
Leigh On Sea voted one of the best places to live in the UK, in many recent surveys. Times newspaper 2022.
1 minute walk from the beach. Nice rear garden. Quiet residential street; but only 2 minutes walk from local high street with independent shops, dog friendly coffee shops and restaurants.
Off street parking. House sitter will sleep in en-suite bedroom with lovely Thames estuary views.
5 minutes walk to train station and only 50 minutes direct train to Central London.
There are lots of nice walks on our doorstep and Hadleigh Castle as seen in one of the photos is only a few miles away. The beach is at the bottom of our road and you can swim in the sea when the tide is in.
House has full fibre BT broadband. Excellent connectivity for digital workers.
We would welcome whoever house sits for us to feel at home, relax and have a holiday themselves whilst we were away.
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
Tidy and considerate. Dog lover of course. Respectful of our family home. Non smoker.
We would like to have a on-line meeting with you before agreeing to the house sit. Arrive with us the day before we go on holiday to show you how things work in our house and have a meal and a chat with you before we head off.

Rob, Liane and Paige's dog Jack was a delight to sit with. He was so well behaved on walks on and off leash and won over the staff at the Italian restaurant we went to. The area of Leigh on sea has a great bus and train service to different towns and lots of scenic walks to take Jack on. I go back anytime.

Caring for sweet Jack
My dogsitting in Leigh on Sea was a really beautiful experience! I do loved walking Jack for miles and exploring with him new gorgeous spots or make other trips heading to the old village and to the riverbank where atmosphere is never the same depending on the variable weather and hours. House is charming, set in a similar contest, also there are no shortage of modern conveniences! Jack is very easy to mind, is kind to others, both humans and dogs. Owners were very gentle with me, we had some meals together and conversations was limited only by my low level of english! I'd love to come back visiting them! Per gli "italian speakers": bellissima esperienza, una casa tranquilla in un contesto di case liberty di inizio novecento con piccoli e curati giardini, tante diverse passeggiate da fare: ci sono piccoli parchi vicini e anche aree protette se disposti a camminare un po' di più. Il cane ha bisogno di fare qualche sosta e di bere spesso, ma Rob darà tutte le informazioni e con whatsapp è possibile il contatto per ogni eventuale dubbio. Sistemazione cinque stelle in una mansarda con bagno! Raccomando!

Sitting for Jack, a delightful and friendly dog was a joy. He was a happy, obedient chap who loved his walks. Rob, Lianne and Paige, his owners, were easy-going, friendly and very welcoming. They left a comprehensive list of essential information as well as essential goodies in the fridge!!! I really enjoyed my sit in their very comfortable and spacious home within sight of the sea.

I have just had the pleasure of house sitting for Rob, & Liane, at their beautiful Edwardian home in Leigh-on-Sea, in Essex, on the estuary of the Thames River. I was looking after their wonderful seven year old dog “ Jack “ who is the most wonderful natured dog I have had the pleasure of looking after. I have done around 150 house sits since January, 2018, and during that time looked after many dogs, so I speak from experience. Jack was great company for me during my stay there, I just loved going on our daily walks with him, and at times coming with me to dog friendly Pubs, where he was always extremely well behaved and no problems at all. Rob, & Liane, made me feel very friendly on my arrival, and saw to it that I had everything I needed during my stay there. Leigh-on-Sea, is a most beautiful part of this county, so much to see, I just love the area. I can only throughly recommend this sit one hundred percent. If you get the opportunity to sit for Rob & Liane, you certainly won’t be disappointed. Many thanks Guy’s for allowing me to sit for you and have time with Master Jack. Bob

We had a fabulous 2 weeks with Jack!
We had a wonderful stay with Jack. He is so polite and sweet. Walking with him was wonderful, he respects other people and other dogs so gently. He listens very well and is very intelligent. He is also very sensitive and protective to the house. Jack accepted us completely and we loved having him around. So if you love dogs, a sit with Jack is the perfect choice for you. Rob and Liane were also very friendly and have a lovely young daughter. When we arrived, Rob showed us a nice route for walking Jack near the house, and by car showed us the different places in the neighborhood where Jack was allowed to walk without a leash. We found that very helpful and the places were very beautiful too. Leigh-On-Sea is an attractive small fishing town, close to Southend-On-Sea, which has a lot of touristic attractions. The house is very close to the coast and we had our own private bedroom en bathroom when sitting Jack. The garden and plants inside just need a little watering. The house is very roomy and everything is dog and child proof so cleaning is a breeze. For us it really was a very lovely stay in Leigh-On-Sea with Jack in the house. Rob and Liane are very helpful people and made our stay very comfortable. The evening we arrived, Liane prepared us a nice meal with a dessert of cake with fresh plums from the garden. We enjoyed the meal together very much. It was a very pleasant meal and we had a great conversation. We didn’t go to London, because we already have been there several times, but there’s a train station nearby from where you can reach London in less than an hour. One night we ordered in a sea platter from Abbie Lou Seafood and Fish (local fisherman) and it was very fresh and delicious. All kinds of restaurants are quite nearby and can also deliver food. The kitchen is also well equipped, in case you like to cook yourselves (like we did). Rob and Liane kept in good contact with us and had some nice suggestions for things to do or to visit. This sit delivers a great dog in a great house in a great small town. Because we love Jack so much, we encourage real dog lovers to interact and have a great time with him.
