About this assignment

Shannon (my husband) and I work on the travel industry and because of our jobs we need to travel frequently. We joined because a friend of ours recommended. We need dog and house sitters we can trust and rely on.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Feed the dogs (Joe -twice a day - Rio 3 times a day)
Walk the dogs (one long walk by the end of the day, one short walk in the morning)
Water the garden outside (depends on the time of the year)
Water plants inside the house (once a week)
Take the trash bin to the gate (regular trash on Thursdays and recycle every other week - also on Thursdays)
Keep the house clean (the way you found!)
Do not bring strangers without permission

What are the good features of the property and location

Colorado mountain home on 7.48 acres with beautiful pinion trees and mountain views.Close to recreational activities like rafting, hiking, camping, fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, skiing, biking and more. Located on a private low traffic road graded and maintained by the county. 1/4 mile from the Arkansas River with gold-medal trout waters and rafting opportunities.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

Our home and our buddies mean everything to us, so trust is very important. Recommendations, experience and clear background checks are welcomed. We will jump on a call and decide if it is a good fit

Can I bring my own pets?

Yes
Restrictions: But we do not allow pets on our furniture, beds etc Rio is a big energetic dog that can scare other dogs, but is sweet and get along with other dogs just fine, just know he sometimes plays rough. Our dogs are not resource guarders, but this is their home

Testimonials

Salida Co.-- pet sit with beautiful mountain views

Gabriella and Shannon are a very nice and friendly couple. I was able to meet Shannon prior to his departure and go over his written instructions and was able to walk the dogs with him to see their path. Their 2 dogs, Joe and Rio were easy to care for and fun to be around. Joe is very laid back and gentle. I walked him on a leash and he was very compliant. Rio is friendly and has a bit more energy but he was able to walk off leash and run freely. He never let me out of his sight and if I called he would come immediately. He was very obedient. I did not have any issues with either dog. Their home is very nice, safe on 7 acres and has beautiful mountain views. The front and back yard are lovely to just sit and enjoy the views. The town of Salida is nice. It is walkable with the Arkansas river running through it. You can watch rafter pass through and every Thursday evening they had free concerts in the park and a great mini golf course. Mt. Princeton hot springs, brown canyon are nearby and abundant hiking opportunities. I highly recommend this sit especially if you like the outdoors.
