About this assignment

We are looking for someone for basic house and dog sitting. They would need to be a dog lover and enjoy living in a rural setting.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Feed dog twice a day and give medication (2 tablets wrapped in a piece of ham), short walk in the morning or late evening when cooler.

Water plants in pots around the house.

Maintain bird feeders daily.

Ensure the property is fully secured when out.

What are the good features of the property and location

Large open-plan family house that sleeps up to 7 people, with 3 double bedrooms, one single bedroom and 4 bathrooms. Fully fitted kitchen with two fridges, gas oven and dishwasher. BBQ and seating area outside. Washing facilities. Air-con in main living area, fans in bedrooms. TV/DVD with Netflix access. Strong wi-fi throughout the house.

For the winter months, there are radiators in all the bedrooms and a log fire in the living area (with a good supply of logs).

Easy to find and drive to with access from either the AP7 or the N340. The house has a large garden in a quiet and peaceful, rural setting amongst olive groves. It's a 10-minute drive to the nearest coastal resort - l'Ampolla, with lots of restaurants, bars and lovely beaches. There are mountains close by with many good hiking trails. We are situated near the Ebro Delta with excellent birdwatching opportunities. We are approximately 55 minutes from Reus airport, 1 hour and 45 minutes from Barcelona airport and 2 hours from Valencia airport.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

Sitters would need their own transport. Be aware that the house only has air-con in the main living area and no pool. In the winter months, the house can become quite cold. Slippers are a must!

Our dog is about 9 years old and has a medical condition which is managed with daily tablets. Whilst he enjoys walks, he cannot walk too far.

Can I bring my own pets?

Yes
Restrictions: Potential another dog if it's friendly towards other dogs.

Beautiful time spent with Monty in Tarragona, Deltebre area

Taking care of Monty has been really nice and gratifying, he is a very sweet and sensitive dog and it is very easy to get along with him. He is a bit old, and spends most part of the day peaceful, but he is also lively and enjoys every walk, every meal every pat. Monty is quite intelligent and you can fully understand what he wants. He likes people and is friendly with other dogs (not cats!) and he is respectful and tender. Furthermore, the environment, surrounded by olive trees, is beautiful and you will enjoy the walks with Monty. In the house you have everything you may need. We stayed during the summer and the weather was hot, but there is air conditioning in the living room which is great. The beach of L’ampolla is ten minutes from the house. But even more interesting is that it is 15 minutes from Deltebre and 20 minutes to some marvelous beaches, country roads and ponds where you can discover the flamingoes’ spots and enjoy this unique environment. There are some restaurants where you can eat a good “paella”. Wendy and Al are very easy going and made us feel very comfortable. We also watered the plants in the garden and gave food to the birds, which was very easy. It was a very positive experience.
