House & Pet Sit in San Antonio, Texas

About this assignment

A responsible adult who loves animals. I don't expect someone to be a housekeeper during the sit but would appreciate keeping things neat and tidy.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

I have 1 cat, Ash, who is a real ladies man. He’s pretty easy to get along with and seeks attention when he wants it. He is strictly an inside kitty. (8-10lbs)
I also have a dog, Olive, who is a rescue. She is a love bug but is on the large size. (60 lbs). Don't let her fool you, she does not get in my lap....but she tries.
Ash eats when he wants and I leave out dry food for him. Check daily to be sure it's not empty. I also check his litter box several times a day and clean as needed. He will seek out attention and often times will just lay near you. He doesn't like to be picked up but may come check you out during sleeping hours. He's easily redirected but feel free to love on him if you like (He may stay and snuggle for a while)

Olive is fed twice a day. Once in the morning and once in the late afternoon.(5 pm - 6 pm) She is also walked twice a day. Again once in the morning and once in the evening. Times can vary. She is known to sleep in on occasion. When I'm home I let her out several times a day and she likes to be outside in nice weather. I leave her inside while I'm gone. She can be left inside between 6-8 hours.
I do have potted plants that I like watered every other day or as needed depending on if it rains. Check the mailbox and bring in the newspaper on the weekends.

What are the good features of the property and location

I’m in a great location for seeing the sights in San Antonio. Close to downtown and easy access to highways.
There is access to local transportation, bus system, with bus stops a few blocks away.
There is a great bike and hike trail system in San Antonio. Rent a bicycle (there are a couple of bike shops close by that rent) or simply go for a hike and enjoy the great outdoors.
San Antonio is know for our historic Spanish Missions, including the Alamo, but we also have some great museums and places to eat! Check out The Pearl for fun shops, great food and fun places to grab a drink.
Austin is a little over an hour away and the Texas Hill Country is accessible in about 45 minutes.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

While there is public transportation in San Antonio it is not always a convenient way to travel. There are lots of things to do but the activity may be on the other side of town. So if you do not have your own transportation you will need to research the best bus routes. (I believe you can download an app and load it as needed)
I would want the house sitter to arrive the day before to meet the fur babies and so I can run through their routines.
