Looking for reliable house sitters / enthusiastic gardeners who would like to get away from it all in rural France

About this assignment

We are looking for dependable, flexible sitters who love gardening, happy to take on the odd DIY-type jobs and to keep the house aired and tidy. The house is remote and there are large grounds to look after, making it more suited to a couple or friends. It would be great if you were happy to come for at least a month in Spring 2025, but we may consider shorter periods.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Regular gardening of the large grounds (ride-on mower and other equipment provided), small maintenance jobs around the house, reporting on any major issues during your stay, and regular opening of doors and windows to keep all the rooms aired on warm days.

What are the good features of the property and location

A lovely rural Charente Longhouse with plenty of space to relax, enjoy nature and get away from it all. There are eight bedrooms and seven shower rooms as well as a fully equipped yoga room. The house is surrounded by fields with views over the valley to woodland and walnut plantations. You can walk across the fields to Nonac where there is a neighbourhood restaurant with an amazingly good value Prix-Fixe menu de jour.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

The house is rural/quiet and a car is essential. Boulangeries and other shops are 10 minutes away by car. The house does not have central heating so experience of using pellet/wood-burning stoves would be useful
