200 year old traditional home close to beautiful Chichester Harbour, on bus route 10 mins to Chichester

About this assignment

Ideally we’d like a couple with experience of old houses and who are happy to look after our beautiful placid Golden Retriever. We have three chickens too and also three lodgers who are self sufficient, living in the separate self contained annexe nextdoor.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Our adorable dog is 10 years old and loves company as well as a walk each day but it needn’t be a long one. The chickens will need their house cleaning out twice a week, and their food and water supply checked each day, and obviously eggs collected each day too. The lodgers nextdoor are unlikely to need much - it might be the occasional reset of the WiFi router or a parcel delivered to our door by mistake etc.

What are the good features of the property and location

This is our well loved family home of thirty years, and although there are three bedrooms upstairs we would offer our downstairs double guest room and has everything sitters would need. There is a shower room opposite or a bathroom upstairs available. We have a cosy sitting room with open fire, TV etc, an extended and well fitted country style kitchen and a good sized dining room with plenty of natural light flooding into the studio extension for projects such as art, sewing, reading etc. We have 3 Sonos speakers in those rooms and WiFi throughout the house. Outdoors we will have our two vehicles in the garage but there is plenty of driveway space for a number of cars, the garden is lawned and well stocked with a lovely patio area. We are on a main road but don’t find that a problem at all. We are very close to a traditional pub, which serves highly recommended food, beers and wines, and it is usually best to book. Chichester harbour is at the end of the lane with a choice of walks around the local area, alternatively a walk to the centre of town takes 25 minutes. We are on a bus route and our local railway station is 10 minutes walk. There is another pub nearby and also playing fields with a community centre with various activities, and our village Saxon church is on the harbour too, only 5 minutes walk away.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

Like all dogs ours cannot be left for more than a few hours, and remember that chickens are messy! They are set up to need minimal attention but do need checking each day as well as their house kept clean.

Restrictions: One well behaved dog would be welcome. (The chickens are in an enclosed run)
