Beautiful Prince Edward County Ontario

About this assignment

We’re an active retired couple, new to the house/pet sitting experience. We’re looking for a sitter to enjoy our home and to care for our four-year-old coton de tulear, Eddie, for a month long sit as we travel overseas over Christmas & into the New Year.
Eddie is a friendly little guy whose favourite place is home. He needs a sitter who will stay pretty close to home most of the time or will go out and about with him. We don't leave Eddie alone for much more than three hours at a time but he travels well in the car where he’s happy to stay on mild winters days while you run errands, groceries etc. Eddie is a very robust little guy who loves daily walks, but his breed as a whole does not require a lot of exercise so cold winter days can happily be spent by the fireplace! He likes nothing better than curling up beside you as you read or watch tv. Eddie uses a doggie door that allows him to freely access his little outdoor run.

Family and friends are welcome to visit and our home will be decorated for Christmas.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Our home is very comfortable and easy to care for. Our most important concern is loving care for our favourite little fellow Eddie. Eddie is a homebody who will love anyone who will snuggle up with him!
Because this house sit is in winter, there will be no outdoor maintenance needed. We have arranged for snow removal on our property if and when needed.
Our home is full of plants, but they are easy to care for (instructions will be provided) with only one watering needed during the sit.

What are the good features of the property and location

We live in a small community neighborhood on the shores of Lake Ontario surrounded by beautiful countryside, small beaches, vineyards and micro breweries. Our home is a light and airy two bedroom, two bathroom (incl ensuite) bungalow with lovely outdoor deck, pergola, pretty landscaping, garage and extra parking. Surrounded by windows, we have several comfortable spots in our home from which to enjoy watching, with Eddie, the birds, chipmunks and bunnies who frequent our yard. Rocking chairs on our front veranda also provide a great spot to watch the world - and our neighbours with their four-legged friends - go by. Our home is very cozy in the winter with sunlight streaming in and a warm fireplace. Prince Edward County is full of quaint small towns, artisans, farmers markets, wine tours & cultural activities throughout the year. We have the Millennium Trail just minutes walk away by which you can further explore The County year round. We also love walking several small, secluded beaches with Eddie in the winter.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

Eddie loves company and we ask that a potential sitter is happy to stay home with Eddie for most of the sit. Along with walks, he would also be happy to travel short distances with you in the car. We ask that Eddie not be left alone at home for more than about three hours at a time and, for that length of time, no more than a couple times a week.
