About this assignment

Country loving single/couple with experience looking after dogs and horses and able to keep a watchful eye on house and garden. Responsible and trustworthy non smokers with a ‘can do’ attitude to life.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

The main responsibility is genuine care and maintenance of :-
- a medium sized 5 year old terrier X, including feeding, daily walks, playing and keeping company with her.
- oversight and twice daily feeding of an aimiable elderly ShireX horse who lives out in the adjoining 8 acre field.
Basic upkeep of the house plus watering and general oversight of the cottage-style garden (or more if you’re keen on gardening).

What are the good features of the property and location

A secluded cottage set among fields, woods and heath; superb walking and biking in every direction from the gate.
A sunny and shady patio and garden with relaxing chairs to read, chat or just absorb the views.
It’s a traditional friendly, relaxed cottage but uncluttered and with central heating, a wood burning stove and excellent Wi-Fi..
The land is managed mainly for biodiversity - including badgers, moles, foxes and a variety of bird and plant life.
Good local pubs.
Many local beauty spots, National Trust properties and open gardens.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

There are 3 other houses nearby but it’s about 2 miles to the nearest shop and main road, via a gravel track and country lanes. Own transport essential and a spirit of self reliance helpful.
