About this assignment
We are looking for a mature, responsible, reliable couple who are good with cats and love animals and will keep our house tidy while we are away.
What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
Caring for the house (we have a cleaning service that comes every other week), receiving the mail. changing the cats litter box, feeding the two lovely indoor cats and watering a few indoor plants.
What are the good features of the property and location
We are located 3 miles from the Mall in DC and are 3 blocks from the CUA/Brookland Red Line metro stop. The house is freestanding with a lovely wrap-around porch
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
This is a historic house with modern ammenities in a large city with the typical issues that come with any big city. Use common sense.
Can I bring my own pets?

Rob and Kim gave me a great house sit in Washington DC. They have a beautiful home in the Brookland District near the Catholic University. They were very hospitable and I enjoyed our conversations. Their cats Alex and Cheeto were good and easy to care for. Very Pleasant House sit in Washington
My husband and I are still glowing from our almost three-week house sit in Washington, DC for Kim and Rob. Our latest assignment was to care for two beautiful kitties (Cheeto and Alex), who proved to be calm, independent, and who were totally content with their daily meals and a little (but not too much) affection from us! Homeowners, Kim and Rob, were super organized. Kim gave us a thorough orientation to our house/kitty sitting responsibilities as well as the DC neighborhood we were to call “home” before she left, and provided us with physical resources (tour books, printouts, metro passes, car for grocery shopping) that helped to make our stay very enjoyable. We felt like real locals!! The one or two times we had questions, Kim and Rob were always just an email away and responded quickly to our queries. Kim and Rob’s home is on one of the DC metro lines, which made getting around very easy. And, as an added treat, these homeowners are avid film buffs with an immense library of DVD’s. After a day of sightseeing, it was fun to pick a movie for evening viewing and relax in the living room with Cheeto and Alex close by. Thank you, Kim and Rob. We would be happy to return some time and highly recommend you for future Mindmyhouse house sitters.

Wonderful!
Kim and Rob were wonderful people to sit for. They are super-friendly, smart, excellent communicators, and were also incredibly kind and generous people. We made to feel very welcome in their beautiful home, and even had the opportunity to get to know them better after our sit, which was a real treat as they are fantastic company. Kim and Rob have two gorgeous cats - Alex and Cheeto - who are very low maintenance and have lovely characters. The house was just a dream - very comfortable, safe, spacious, beautifully decorated and in nice area with good cafes and excellent transport links to central DC. We feel very honoured to have sat for them and would highly recommend this house sit. We loved every moment of our sit in DC for Kim and Rob.
