About this assignment
We would appreciate for housesitters to housesit for us from Tuesday 1st April to Thursday 24th April.
We are looking, preferably, for a couple of non smokers to care for our house, and 2 Chinese geese.
What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
The sitters will have responsibility of feeding our geese twice daily, letting the geese out in the morning, cleaning out the geese house & renewing the wood shavings, & late afternoon emptying & filling the goose pond, two water buckets & cleaning up after the geese in the garden. Also the geese need to be guided into their house in the evening & locked up for the night..
In the morning the house sitters may need to spend approximately 30 mins & approximately one hour in the evening in the care of our geese.
What are the good features of the property and location
We live in a 17th Century listed sandstone cottage in Halton Village, Cheshire close to M56 & M6 motorways. Shopping, supermarkets etc & the bus terminal is 10 mins walk away (5 mins driive). The train station is approximately 2 miles away - the Liverpool via RUNCORN to London train is less than 2 hours from Runcorn. Liverpool is 17miles away Manchester 23miles, Chester 17miles, & Warrington 7 miles.
There are many tourist attractions close by & within driving distance..
Town Park is only 5 mins walk away.
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
The housesitters do not need experience caring for our geese as I will show all before we would go away. We have an information pack for the holiday care of our house & geese.

Housesitting and taking care of two geese
Mairead and Phil welcomed me into their home the night before they left. So there was plenty of time to get to know them and learn about the tasks, the geese and the house. Even though they provided me with very detailed instructions beforehand this was very helfpul. Taking care of the geese included letting them out of the stall in the morning and locking them back in it in the evening, feeding them twice a day, cleaning out the stall in the morning and the pond and yard in the evening (around sunset). The cottage is lovely and well organized/stocked. Besides watering the plants and obviously cleaning after ourselves there was nothing to take care of. The neighbourhood is quiet. The town is smallish. There are shops and stores in walking distance however, public tansport connections to liverpool or manchester are limited. I recommend coming by car. We had a lovely time staying there and did several daytrips to Wales, Peak District and the cities nearby whilst we were housesitting. Good experience!

Beautiful home, lovely owners and great animals!
Had a great 3 week stay at Mairead and Phil's home, the geese Tilly and tahnee are no trouble and scooter the cat is very loving and loves to chat! All instructions are clearly laid out in a folder and Mairead shown us how to clean out goose house and pond so we felt very comfortable with our responsibilities. Location of the house is great amenities are close and the pubs are very welcoming. Looking forward to our return in December!

Lovely home in great area.
We’ve recently carried out a 2 week house sit looking after 2 geese Tilly & Tahnee and Scooter the cat which were so easy to care for, Miriadd & Phil are a lovely couple who have a wonderful home which is a couple of hundred years old within easy reach of many of the great places to explore. We wouldn’t hesitate in sitting for them again should the timing be right.

Pleasant house/pet sit
Very enjoyable sit over Christmas and New Year. Comfortable house accommodation with very good and comprehensive instructions. Hosts were always available and helpful whenever needed. The pets, Scooter the cat and the very entertaining Chinese Geese were a joy to mind. Would highly recommend to any prospective sitters. Thank you Mairead and Phil for a very pleasant stay.

Mairead & Phil, Scooter, Tilly and Tahnee
We looked after 2 geese and a cat for 8 days whilst Mairead and Phil were away. The instructions left were really spot on and enabled us to clean and feed the geese and feed the cat with ease. Mairead and Phil are a really friendly and lovely couple with a beautiful home. It was an absolute delight to do this pet/house sit. We kept in contact regularly sending photos to help Mairead feel at ease especially as we had never pet sat geese before. Scooter the cat, is extremely timid but responded really well to gentle talking to and stroking on her terms. She lets you know when she's in, when she's going upstairs and when she comes back down again. We loved tending to her needs and encouraging her to trust us. The geese were really quite easy to look after and made it very clear when they wished to go into their house early evening. The cleaning of the pond and surrounding area was not arduous and we enjoyed ensuring the geese would have a lovely clean area for the following day. We would not hesitate to do this house sit again. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful pets and home with us. We loved every minute of our sit!!!

Mairead
I had a wonderful time looking after Mairead's geese and cat. I felt so at home in her beautiful house, she made me feel most welcome. The geese made me smile every day, especially Tilly. It was a holiday for me.
