About this assignment

Hello! I’m looking for a non-smoking single or couple who love pets! Must be gentle, reliable and take house/petsitting seriously. I have two strong 60 lb dogs who can pull very hard if they see a squirrel so need housesitter(s) strong enough to keep them and yourselves safe.
My home is in Roanoke TX, just 15 minutes from DFW airport, and 35 minutes from Love Field. I can provide airport transportation if needed. Anything and everything you would like to see or do can be found here.
7 year old Rhodesian Ridgeback mix, Ginger, is mellow and oh so sweet. 5 year old Huey, is really sweet too, and loves to snuggle. They're used to plenty of attention. Both are rescues and very loving, and we definitely want and need very patient, gentle and loving housesitters. These two love to play together. I try to walk them 2 miles, or take them to the dog park once daily. There is a really nice dog park a few miles away.
Both dogs use the dog door into the fenced back yard to come and go as they please so no worries about taking them out. Huey and Ginger love company around the place, so hopefully our sitters will enjoy being home with them some of the days/evenings, and always must be here overnight. Both dogs are fine to be left for long stretches of the day once fed and walked 30-60 minutes! I tend to come and go or oftentimes take them along with me. Weather permitting, the dogs can be taken into Roanoke, for patio dining and are pretty good to sit and wait while eating.
Hazel, our cat is quite self sufficient but loves to snuggle at times. She has an automatic feeder which I’ll leave full and should last 3 weeks. She will need her water bowl freshened every couple days. She has a litter box that she uses at times and will need scooping every couple days. She also has a cat door and comes in and out at will. She's a great cat.
I am looking for reliable, trustworthy caretaker(s) so that I can travel with my mind at ease. My biggest concern is that my pets are properly cared for, kept safe, and given love and attention! I’ll leave a clean, comfortable, modern home with food staples, coffee, tea, etc. for you to enjoy. My dates could be a little flexible if need be. You'll have your own guest room with bath and TV. It has a queen size bed. You're welcome to arrive a bit early or stay a bit longer if it fits your schedule better.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Feeding Ginger and Huey every morning and evening. Hazel has her own big gravity feeder and eats at will. Keeping water bucket and Hazel’s water dish filled.
Picking up dog poop in the yard daily. Give Hazel some pets as she requests! Scooping litter box as needed, though she goes outside part of the time!
Walk the dogs about 45 minutes daily or visit the dog park nearby as it's a favorite destination.
Providing lots of kindness, love, and security for the pets is the main responsibility. The dogs are rescues and Huey has fear of new people, though warms up quickly. Maintaining the dogs feeding schedule and staying in our home every night is a must.
Both dogs can be left home alone for long stretches of time after a good morning walk.
Front yard is artificial turf, but the small backyard needs mowing periodically. There’s an electric mower very handy to the yard and it takes less than five minutes! Every plant on the property is irrigated by drip irrigation so unless something malfunctions everything should be fine.

What are the good features of the property and location

My home is in historic downtown Roanoke. It’s called “the Unique Dining Capital of Texas” because within two blocks of us you will find dozens of unique coffee shops, restaurants, shopping and entertainment venues. The weather is usually great fall, winter, and spring. Summers can be very hot, but we have great A/C!
There are several nice areas to sit outdoors here at the house. There is a hot tub and a sauna. There is a wonderful outdoor shower area under the stars. We have a new 8 foot cedar fence with absolute privacy. The home is well furnished for fun and enjoyment.
The home will be well stocked with basic supplies, coffee, etc. There is a 75” TV, in the living room, and all bedrooms plus the outdoor pavilion have smart TVs as well. good WiFi, Netflix, and Prime, and Hulu. Fenced back yard for the dogs to access at will through the dog door. Hazel has her own cat door too.
Your guest suite has a comfortable queen bed, nightstands with lamps, a desk, a large TV, and private bath.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

Two strong 60 lb dogs who can pull hard when they see a squirrel though they walk nicely most of the time. Must have enough strength to walk them safely. Texas is great fall, winter, and spring, though we can get a brief cold snap or two during the winter. It’s very hot here in the summer but we have a great A/C unit. It’s nice morning and evenings outside even during the hot summer.
References/Testimonials preferred. Please be good at communicating with me as needed prior to your arrival, and while I’m gone if needed. Must truly love pets, be patient, sensible and kind! Must be reliable! We have been let down before by a Mind my House sitter, and it ruined our vacation. Can you please convince me that you'll be here when promised?
There is a ring doorbell on the front door. There are no other security cameras or devices. We live in one of the safest places in the United States.
