Who can see my contact details? What contact details are visible online? - For house sitters

Your email address, country of residence and first and last names will be visible only to those people who take the time to register with our site as home owner and house sitter members.

Be assured that any other information you provided when you registered (such as your home address) will not be displayed under any circumstances, except as an icon on a map. Note however that logged in members cannot zoom in to see your actual house.

For house sitters, if you want your phone or mobile number to be visible to registered home owner members, you first need to add your number on your 'Account' page: https://www.mindmyhouse.com/sitters/account. Next, you need to edit your listing and select 'yes' under the 'Do you want to show your contact phone number/s to home owners?' section under the Miscellaneous tab: https://www.mindmyhouse.com/sitters/listing

Please also note that it would be helpful to your success as a house sitter if you include your full name when you register as a member. Home owners require this kind of transparency from house sitters.

To help protect your privacy when advertising your house sitting services on MindMyHouse.com, consider using an email address that doesn't reveal your place of employment. You should also avoid placing your contact details within your listing. Note that because only registered home owners can see your email address (unless you've included it in the body of your listing) it cannot be harvested and added to a spam mailing list. Please see our Privacy Policy for more information on how we strive to protect the privacy of your information.

In addition, you can also choose to make your listing invisible to Google and other search engines. Just click the 'hide from Google' checkbox on the 'Edit my listing' page, under the 'Miscellaneous' tab.

How can I hide my listing from Google and other search engines? - For house sitters

You can choose to make your listing invisible to Google and other search engines at any time by ticking the 'hide from Google' checkbox on the 'Edit my listing' page, under the 'Miscellaneous' tab. Please note that your listing will still be searchable using the MindMyHouse search if you select this option. Also, it may take Google a while to take note of the changes - sorry but there isn't anything we can do about that.

Is it OK for home owners to have security cameras or recording devices on the premises during the house sitting assignment? - For house sitters

Unfortunately there is no easy answer to this question, as it depends on where you are and the laws of that particular country and region.

It is MindMyHouse policy however that if home owners have cameras or recording devices on their property, they must declare this to the house sitter before the assignment starts, so that this can be discussed and that there are no surprises.

We have tried to help by including a special declaration regarding this in our "House sitter agreement" document (in section five) which you can download before the assignment starts. In this section, home owners can declare the locations of these devices as well as the times of operation. Also, house sitters can declare whether they consent to the home owner operating the devices or not.
