About this sitter
I am responsible, practical, organised and calm with animals. Most of my house sits have come through word of mouth and personal recommendation from people who know and trust me.
Retired from working as an accountant for a UK charity, I have time to travel and I am available for house and pet sits of between one week and one month in any interesting location worldwide.
Why they want to house sit
I have had many good times house sitting, making new friends, exploring new places and finding out about different ways of life.
I like being around animals and experiencing a variety of environments, whether city or countryside.

With house and pet sitting experience over more than 30 years, many of my house sits are repeat visits.
More recently, since ceasing full-time work, I have house sat more than 90 times in over 20 different homes in Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czechia, France, Germany, Italy, Malta, the Netherlands, Romania, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey and the UK.
I have looked after a lot of cats and also dogs, fish, hamsters, chickens and even flocks of sheep. I used to ride and have experience of horses.
What can they bring to the assignment
I will provide the confidence for you to enjoy your trip away knowing that your animals are having the care and attention they need. I will respect your home and keep it clean and secure and be considerate to your neighbours.
I am conscientious and will keep to any house rules that you have. I am careful to follow instructions for pets regarding diet, medication, exercise, sleeping arrangements etc. I will water your plants and cut the lawn too.

Mark
Mark sat for us for a week here in our Bulgarian village. He went above and beyond our expectations. We have a sick cat in the house right now with Stomatitis. Mark cared for him very well administering pain killer as required and making sure he ate as much as possible. All the other animals were happy and well cared for. The other cats, and dogs all took to Mark and he could tell us all their little individual characteristics in no time. He kept us informed every evening and was very conscientious in following our established routines. The house was well looked after, clean and tidy and everything as it should be. We highly recommend Mark and would have him back anytime.

Happy animals + happy me = great house sitter
I felt completely at easy leaving Mark to look after my furry four legged gang as well as my home. Mark arrived a couple of days before I left and I could see straight away that he was going to become good friends with them all. I greatly enjoyed our conversations hearing about his travels and life’s adventures. Mark sent me regular updates of what they were up to and how they all were. On my return Mark cooked for the two nights he stayed on before he headed off on further travels. My house was very clean and the animals were all very happy. I can full heartedly recommend Mark for future house sitting and taking care of your animals.

Conscientious and caring cat-sitter
Mark looked after our cats for a few weeks over Christmas and new year. I was very impressed with his initial letter of application, in which he responded fully to what we were looking for and the things that a cat-sitter might need take into consideration about our house. We were able to have a couple of video calls before he came which were very productive as, with his years of cat-sitting experience, Mark has developed a good sense of what needs to be clarified and his own checklist of questions to ask. He kept me updated about his travel arrangements and arrived extremely punctually at the appointed hour (no mean feat in this part of the world!) We spent an enjoyable first evening together with interesting conversations on a wide range of topics. When I left the next day, I was confident that all would be well, and indeed Mark proved extremely conscientious about looking after the cats and taking care of the house. I really appreciated his flexibility and positive attitude when our plans evolved and changed, as they did a couple of times… Mark is also a very easy person to have in the house with minimal needs and a healthy lifestyle. Everything was tidy and clean when we returned home and the cats had clearly been very well looked after in our absence. Thank you, Mark!

Cat-sitting in Switzerland - Mark is excellent!
I am happy to provide a testimonial for Mark, who looked after my cat Athena and my house in Switzerland in April 2023. Mark is an excellent cat-sitter who is reliable, calm, friendly, and he also did a great job looking after the house. I felt completely at ease leaving Athena in his care, knowing that he would take good care of her. Throughout his time with Athena, Mark kept me updated on how she was doing and even sent me pictures of her playing and relaxing. It was clear that he genuinely cared about Athena and enjoyed spending time with her. In addition to looking after Athena, Mark took care of everything that needed to be done around the house, such as collecting the mail and watering the plants. He left the house just as I had left it, clean and tidy. It was such a relief to come back to a well-maintained house after a long trip. Cat sitting in Palma: my cats adores him!
Mark came to my flat in Palma de Mallorca in Dicember 2022/Jan 2023 for a month to take care of my two cats and plants while I was away for work. He is just the best! He took very good care of my boys, at the point that every time he was going for grocery shopping, he would take home a new cardboard box for them to play because cats get bored easily. He also stayed home for New Years Eve to make sure that Pixie and Dixie where safe and not too scared by the fireworks. This details are so revealing of how thoughtful Mark is. He really understand what cats likes and needs. He took very good care of the plants too, and the house was even more tidy and clean than I left it! On top, he is a very nice person, quiet, respectful of others personal space. We share the apartment for a couple of days before and after my departure and he was so easy to have around. He is interested in everything, but I suspect mainly people..he likes to hear about your life stories. He is an interesting person with a lot to tell too and the conversations have been delightful. I can only reccommend Mark with all my heart, not only as a house/pet sitter but also as a person to know.

Reliable housestitter
Mark has looked after our house and cats in June 2022. The communication was great, we met on the assigned date and we could go to our holidays without any worries. Mark wrote emails regularly and sent photos of the cats. He also mowed the lawn and looked after our vegetables. We have arrived back to a clean and tidy home and happy cats. I would definitely recommend Mark as a housesitter. Thank you again.

Excellent house & pet sitter!
Mark house and cat sat for us in Turkey in 2016. Mark is a very friendly and engaging person. The moment we met Mark, we felt confident that our two cats and home would be very well cared for while we were on holiday. And we were right! On our return, our cats were clearly very attached to Mark and the house has never been cleaner! Mark kept in regular contact while we were away, and sent photos. A British gentlemen and cat psychologist
I understood that Mark was very professional and serious since the first email exchange we had. Very keen to prepare himself for the cat sitting and house sitting. We didn’t have much time together but he seemed immediately very quiet and very interested to please my Benji with some games and caddles. He had a list of questions to go through just to be sure to know everything about the house equipment and cat habits, which was very helpful also for me. I really enjoyed talking to him about many interesting topics during the dinner. We kept in touch during my two weeks trip and he sent me news and pictures of my little beast that showed me happy was Benji with Mark. When I came back home Mark was already gone. Benji was happy to see me but spent some hours calling and searching Mark all over the flat ? It was really cute. The flat was super clean, plants green and healthy and everything was at its place!!! He re-filled my pantry and even bought me my favorite bread from the bakery… he could remember the specific type I eat, this was an amazing attention that I wouldn’t expect. We had a chat over the phone for a quick briefing of his stay in Florence and of my holiday trip. I will definitively recommend Mark and hope to have him as Benji sitter again in the future.

What A Star!
Mark came to sit at my home with my two cats on very short notice for which I am eternally grateful! We met prior to the house sit and I have to say I found him to be very interesting with a great sense of humor! The house/cat sit went without any issues and I am pleased to report Mark seemed to have enjoyed himself in Lyme Regis and made two furry friends in the process! The cats had new little homemade toys which they love dearly so Mark clearly enjoyed their playful natures! I really enjoyed receiving my email updates from Mark on his explorations of the area as well as the cat antics! Came home to a spotlessly clean house and even a follow up call from Mark to check all was well! Fantastic fella and would welcome him back anytime as well as recommend him to anyone else considering him as a sitter.

The best house sitter you can find
Mark spent just over 2 weeks at our house looking after our house and our Bengal Meeto and we were very pleased with everything. Communication with Mark was very pleasant and easy, he is a friendly and reliable person. He helped us make our first houseminding experience a pleasant one. It was very easy to arrange the sitting, Mark was very knowledgeable and pointed us in the direction of what information to leave etc. The house looked just as we left (perhaps, a bit cleaner!) and our cat missed him after he was gone. Mark is an ultimate house sitter so make sure not to miss your chance.
