Chaumières et Museaux's adventure has taken a new direction. After years of sharing and wonderful adventures around housesitting, Noémie and I (Fabien) have decided to follow different paths while continuing this way of life. What does this mean? We will continue to apply for housesitting but we will do it in our own name so don't be surprised if it's just Noémie or me (Fabien) writing to you.

A little overview of my pet and housesitting based lifestyle:

I started our pet and house sitting adventure by word of mouth in 2013 and have been housesitting locally full time since 2017 in the province of Quebec and Gatineau area. In addition, I created with my partner at that time our Facebook page and this has allowed me to spread the practice of housesitting to as many people as possible while having the chance to find future housesitters. Furthermore, since my beginnings, we have subscribed to 3 housesitting websites (Mindmyhouse, Nomador and Trustedhousitters) as a way to expand our possibilities. With these different aspects, I have been able to build a network of trustworthy owners to whom I return when the situation allows. With this network, I have made much less use of housesitting platforms. In the end, for these reasons, you will not see many internal reviews associated with my profile on each of the housesitting websites even if I already have been trusted almost 60 times.

For me it is essential to make this clear as most owners will look at the experience of the sitters, especially through the reviews.

Who am I ?

I am a professional wanting to wide its horizons and expand its life experience and work experience by travelling and meeting other cultures.

I studied Businness Management in France an Jewelry in Quebec. I worked for different businesses and jewelry shops in France and in Quebec. Since summer 2017, I has decided to have a professionnal retraining in the area of health. So I started a diploma in therapeutic massages (Swedish massage an others specialities) in Gatineau and obtained it. Following my graduation as a massage therapist, I decided to create a free community and volunteer massage therapy project for vulnerable people (seniors, homeless people, low-income people, newcomers) in my community. After ten months as a volunteer massage therapist and through my meetings, I decided to put massage therapy aside and focus on developing a non-profit urban agriculture organization of which I am a co-founder. This project brings together my interests in entrepreneurship, healthy food culture, networking, mutual aid, and the development of a more resilient city and community in the face of global challenges.

With an emphasis on continuous improvement, I had following a certified training in pet first aid with St John Ambulance in Montreal (certificate on demande) in October 2017.

I sit on various boards of directors in organizations such as a social activity center, an employment reintegration organization and a beekeeping collective.

I'm also involved in a wood reclamation and circular economy project, and co-founder of a new drone and satellite imaging company.

Finally, as I've resumed my university studies, I've started a bachelor's degree in social work at the Université du Québec en Outaouais.

Before settling down, I would like to continue to travel for a few years in different parts of the world or discover the unsuspected local experiences.

I'm reliable and respectful of animals, people and places. Because I are used to travelling and meet new people very often, we adapt very easily to new environments. I'm non smoker and vegan. I barely drink alcool.

We loved our housesitting experience in New Zealand, United States, Canada, Europe, New Caledonia and Japan.

Taking care of animals and taking care of someone's house while they are away is very rewarding for me. It is exchange of services clearly linked to my vision of travel and related to my values. The warm thanks we received testify to my full involvement and througness and to the level of confidence developped with the owners. Moreover for every housesitting, I adapt to the animals needs and all the past pet's owners agreed that they found their animals really well, relaxed and happy when I took care of their pets.

For travellers like me, housesitting also offers great opportunities to discover countries and their culture, with lesser financial requirements.

I'm happy to participate in this win-win situation!

My experience

I've been housesitting since 2013.
I started randomly in New Zealand. It was a woofing place and the family asked me to help one of their friend who had a cancer and had to leave her house during the traitment. I keep an eye on the house and the dog for almost a week.

What can they bring to the assignment

I'M very serious and highly reliable individuals. I embarked through this petsitting and housesitting in 2013 my partner at that time. We split up autumn 2022. However I decided to continue this way of life.

But most importantly, I demonstrate empathy and sensitivity in any circumstances. With the skills and aptitudes I developed through work and volunteer experiences, as well as through my own life activities, I feel able to face various unusual or unexpected situations (from a broken glass to a big leaking problem.)

Since 2013 and over 60 housesitting experiences, I experienced a wide variety of situations (several countries and kind of homes, different type, condition, breed and age of animals, duration from 1 week to few months, challenging circumstances...) that give me an on-going expertise.

I want to offer to your four-legged companions and you this expertise that became over the years our shared passion.

Homeowners may have total peace of mind.
For me, honesty and open-communication comes first in all relationships. I'm totally devoted to living up to our commitments. I assure you that we will treat your animals like members of my family and conduct myself in your house as if it was mine.

Six essentials things to know about my commitment :

- First, for each of my housesitting assignment, I used to meet the owner(s) one or two days before the beginning of the commitment. It is not an obligation however that way I can have a better understanding of the animals needs and see in details how things works at your place.

- Secondly I'm also used to send emails/pictures/videos of your companions during the assignment if you want it. Moreover even if I'm more than autonomous people it is very important for me to keep in touch if needed.

- Thirdly, I try to bring my own laptop/smartphone because we don't want to use your personal/professional computer.

- Fourthly, I always leave the house as clean as it was before. Our previous experiences showed us that cleaning is different from an owner to another so we garantee that we will respect your expectations. I expect owners to be clear about their expectations regarding housekeeping.

- Filfthly, thanks to my previous experiences, I decided for each of our commitment to create a log book for any importants events concerning the animals or the house.

- And finally, I'm willing to sign a contract because even if I never had to sign a contract (wich is fine for us as well) some owners can feel more comfortable with that. Morever I can discuss about a garantee if needed.
