Hello! We’re Mike and Carolyn Kanter, a couple from Bessemer, Michigan, with a passion for travel, animals, and home care. With over 25 years of combined experience in diverse fields, we’re excited to offer our services as reliable house sitters who treat your home and pets like our own.

Mike has spent 25 years as a Firefighter and Paramedic with the Waukesha Fire Department, bringing a wealth of practical skills and a calm, dependable presence to any situation. I (Carolyn) am a retired Flight Attendant from US Airways, as well as a former employee of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Together, we’ve spent our careers helping others and are now ready to lend our expertise to taking care of your home and animals.

Now in our late 50s, with our three grown children having started their own adventures, we have the time and flexibility to house sit and care for pets while offering peace of mind to homeowners.

Mike is incredibly handy around the house, always ready to tackle a home repair or maintenance project, and I’m an experienced gardener and decorator who loves creating beautiful, well-maintained spaces.
With dual citizenship in both the United States and Italy, we’re fortunate to have the freedom to spend unlimited time within the European Union, making us the perfect candidates for long-term house sitting assignments.

We’ve always loved having a variety of pets around the house, from dogs and cats to birds and rabbits, and we know how important it is to have someone trustworthy and caring look after your furry (or feathered) family. Now that our children are grown, we’re excited to dedicate our time and attention to helping you care for your home, garden, and pets while you’re away.

Why they want to house sit

We’re an adventurous couple with a deep love for animals and a curiosity about the world around us. Over the years, we've had the joy of caring for a variety of pets—dogs, cats, fish, turtles, birds, lizards, and even chickens. Our experiences have given us a unique perspective on the diverse ways animals enrich our lives.

Before diving into house sitting, we lived on a small farm in Wisconsin, just a stone's throw away from a dairy farm. We often helped out with milking cows, feeding the animals, and tending to baby calves, goats, sheep, and pigs. These hands-on experiences gave us a strong connection to animals and a deep appreciation for farm life.

When our beloved Shih Tzu passed away, we knew we wanted to continue sharing our love and affection with other animals while also exploring different cultures around the globe. That's when the idea of house sitting came to us—a way to combine our passion for animals with our desire to travel and meet new people.

Through house sitting, we not only care for pets but also get to experience life through the eyes of others—living in different places, learning about local customs, and discovering what makes each community unique. Whether it’s cuddling with a friendly dog, feeding chickens, or tending to a garden, house sitting gives us the perfect opportunity to immerse ourselves in different lifestyles, while offering a loving and responsible home environment for pets in need.

At our home, we have experience caring for a variety of animals, including both pets and farm animals.
