About this sitter
Empty-nested after raising two wonderful kinder - and now travelling at least twice a year nearing early retirement. I love dogs and most animals in general and I really enjoy helping improve areas I visit.
Why they want to house sit
As a professional planner I get joy and education from seeing and experiencing different locales and how communities work in different regions of the world. I like to feel that I leave a place better as a person as well as leave the place I visit and care for in a better state.
Their experience
Yes - very. I have been house-sitting now for over 10 years in Hawaii, Australia, Costa Rica, Portugal, Italy and the U.S. I am now based in between Northern Calif and Washington - the PNW - and have house-sat for folks here as well.

Joanna Manson took care of my home over Christmas in 2023. She did a really wonderful job, and I so appreciated her being here. She was communicative about her arrival and departure. She let me know what she needed, and she was very reliable. My dog was under the weather when Joanna first came - by the end, my dog was doing great! She took good care of Lila. And sent me photos and texts, letting me know the situation. I am not exaggerating when I tell you that Joanna left our house cleaner than she found it. Honestly! It was awesome.

Wonderful house sitter
Joanna was a great house sitter during my five week trip to Europe. She kept my garden well tended and watered and handled a plumbing emergency efficiently. She kept me informed of the status of the work on my back yard and communicated with the work team. I came home to a clean and well organized house. I would definitely have her house sit for me again.

Nurturer
Joanna took great care of my 2 babies (doggies) from July 22 to July 27th. She walked them and nurtured them. She is polite, kind, outgoing and very good with training my puppy Luna walking on a leash while attending to Snoopy my elder dog's needs to ensure he didn't feel left out. She was flexible and slept with them as they are used to sleeping with mami! She kept the garden/house clean and tidy as I had left it and everything in place. Emptied my dehumidifier as needed and brought up the mail. I am pleased and happy with the care of my home and doggies. I will recommend her to anyone who's looking for a clean, dependable, trustworthy and respectful pet lover. I will definitely have her sit again for me in the future. We couldn't be more pleased!
We found Joanna Manson on the Mind My House website and asked her to take care of our home and pets for a week in February 2019. We couldn’t be more pleased with the job she did! She even adjusted her work schedule so that she could spend more time with our older, special needs dog who is not used to being alone. Even though darkness comes early in Oregon during the wintertime, Joanna made sure our three chickens were able to enjoy some free-range backyard time as well. Most importantly, Joanna was great at communicating with me during our trip. I knew when she was at the house and if the dog had eaten or not. Her texts even included pictures and videos, which put my mind at ease. And if I reached out to her first, her response was almost immediate every time. Fortunately, Joanna didn’t encounter any problems during the week that she cared for our house and pets, but if she had we have no doubt that she would have been capable of handling any situation. When we returned from a week out of state, we found our house tidy, our pets healthy and happy and our mail piled neatly on the counter waiting for us. We would not hesitate to enlist Joanna’s house-sitting and pet-sitting services again. In fact, we would consider ourselves lucky if she was available!
