About this sitter

We are extremely aware of the need to give confidence to home owners that their home and pets will be well taken care of. We regard house sitting and pet sitting as a privilege. Our thanks to you, for granting us this privilege is in the the way we look after your home and pets.

We are responsible people who believe in treating people and their homes as we would expect ourselves and our home to be treated. Our promise to you is that we will treat your property, home and pets with the utmost respect and care. Our aim is to leave you without any worries whilst you are away. We would treat your home as if it is our own home and give your pets the love and care that they have come to expect.

We are retired and love to spend as much time as we can living in other parts of the world and enjoying as many different cultures and life styles as possible. House sitting is the perfect way to do this.

We are home owners and rental property owners, so we are well aware of the responsibilities and expectations when living in your home. We have had pets most of our lives and love the joy that they bring to our lives. Thus we understand your concerns. We want you to feel safe and secure knowing that you have an honest and reliable couple minding your home and pets.

Val is originally from Vancouver, Canada and Kevin is a New Zealander. Whilst we have spent some time living in Canada we have lived most of our lives in Auckland, New Zealand. But we travel regularly to Canada and to other destinations.

Kevin has worked most of his life in IT and Val has been involved with books in both publishing and retail, as well as office administration. We are both book lovers and history enthusiasts. We enjoy our own company but also love to socialise.

Why they want to house sit

Our best travel experiences have been spending time in a destination and soaking up daily life. This is fundamentally why house sitting appeals to us.

For us travel is not about tourist destinations. Although this can be a nice thing to do it does not give one an insight to the lives that people live and the culture and customs of a country.

We see house sitting as the perfect solution to our travel desires. We love new experiences and destinations and we love pets.

- 2015 Cologne (Germany) 2 dogs, walks through wonderful parks
- 2015 Zagarola (Near Rome, Italy) 4 cats, 2 dogs, semi rural. Rome!
- 2013 Cambridge (UK), 2 cats. Light garden duties. Village on outskirts. Lovely countryside.
- 2013 Loyat (Brittany, France), 1 dog two cats. Ride on mower, look after vegetable and flower gardens. Beautiful Brittany.
- 2013 Berne (Switzerland) 1 Dog. Long walks (and swims) by the river. Berne is a treasure.
- 2013 Thones (Haut-Savoie, France). 4 Dogs. Beautiful pets. Fabulous alps and Annecy.
- In 2009 we did a house swap with people who lived in the French Alps (Albertville.)
- In 2012 we looked after a friends home whilst they traveled for 6 months. 1 Dog, 2 cats. gardening and lawns.

We are used to looking after pets and have had our own cats, dogs, rabbits, chickens and goldfish at various times in our lives. We enjoy observing the different personalities and quirks of our pets and get so much fun and love from them.
We are also experienced in the garden, growing our own summer vegetables and looking after lawns and similar home care and maintenance.
When we are away we usually have people mind our home so this gives us an appreciation of the concerns of having a stranger living in your property.
As well as this we have owned rental properties and this adds to our appreciation of the requirements of living in other peoples property's and homes. We would love to have the opportunity to fulfill your assignment.
