Excellent house and pet sitting

About this sitter

I love travelling and am happy to take on house sits with smaller dogs, cats, small pets, etc. I work for the NHS as a clinical research assistant in genetics, working mainly with cancer and Huntington's Disease patients. I have 3 beautiful Burmese cats - brother and sister, Milo and Hattie (11 years old) and Cassie (their 7 year old step sister who actually rules the roost!). I am a very practical person and don't tend to panic if emergencies crop up. I am also used to giving regular meds to small animals for any medical conditions. I love house sitting as it gives me a great chance to visit different countries and stay in locations I might otherwise not have discovered. I speak reasonable French and am happy to take on the responsibility of pet sitting. I have great respect for other peoples properties and like to leave any house in the condition it has been 'left' to me (if not better). I am not averse to taking on cleaning, necessary DIY and am good at resolving any problems that may arise. As an ex- teacher, I am used to being resolution focused. As an NHS employee and an ex-teacher, I have an up to date DBS check.

Why they want to house sit

I have been registered with Mindmyhouse.com since 2017 but had to take a break from 2019 whilst caring for my husband. Sadly, he died just over a year ago at age 57 but I now feel ready to travel and to take on house sits again. As mentioned before, I love visiting different countries and meeting with local people. I also know how difficult it can be to find reliable sitters who will respect your property and look after your pets in the way you would want them to be.

Their experience

I have house sat in the UK for friends and did a couple of house sits in France in 2017/2018 but then had to take a break due to my husband's care needs. I have had cats in the house since the age of 20 so am fairly well versed in their care - I have also cared for cats with medical conditions such as diabetes, FOPS, arthritis - all of which needed regular meds giving.

What can they bring to the assignment

I like to think that I will respect both your property and pets in the way that you would want. I am a practical person and am happy to solve any problems that arise either with the property or your pets. I not only have experience with small dogs, cats and small pets, but am very practical and reasonably skilled at DIY. Whilst I am not a gardener, I am happy to water, mow lawns, weed, etc. I have been left with a huge Victorian house with two massive gardens so pretty much know my way around DIY and gardening equipment.
