About this sitter

We are a mature, active couple with lots of life experience. We are friendly, easy going with a sense of humour. Boggles is good with DIY skills, so is good in case of emergencies. Jill is pretty good with gardening skills and, although might not know all the plants in the garden, certainly knows how to keep a house clean & tidy. We love animals of all kinds. We have successfully completed over 70 petsits via TrustedHousesitters, Kiwi & Aussie Housesitters with different kinds of pets and farm animals. We had a cat called Wookie, who was a prolific hunter so we are used to picking up remains & catching live mice! We love dogs and were both bought up with dogs & cats. We also owned a hamster called Fudge some years ago. For our first house sit in Wales, we looked after two pigs (a very large Suffolk sow and a smaller Kune Kune pig), two horses, 4 cats, 2 Guinea pigs and some tropical fish - quite a menagerie but great fun and we loved it! Since then we have also cared for Labradors, Springer Spaniels, Retrievers, Leonbergers, Beagles, Lurchers, Vizslas, Cockapoos, Terriers (of different kinds), several rescue dogs and a variety of other small and large dogs. We have lots of experience with cats too, including Siamese/Burmese. We are used to administering medication to cats & dogs. We also have experience with farm animals including chickens, runner ducks (hilarious), sheep, small and large pigs, goats, horses, donkeys, alpacas and rheas(!). We have mucked out hens, goats and donkeys, so not afraid of hard work and aware of the realities of having farm animals. We have also looked after smaller pets such as guinea pigs, rabbits and fish.

Why they want to house sit

When we went away a few years ago to visit our son in NZ, we found it a great comfort knowing our cat, Wookie, was being cared for along with the house, by a trusted friend. We like to give others that same opportunity to travel knowing their pets and homes are in safe hands.
We also like the idea of living in the local community of the place where we are staying rather than in an anonymous hotel. We love travelling & animals so this a good combination for us. When we relocated to Devon, UK we enjoyed pet sitting whilst getting to know the local area.
It has also been a great opportunity to meet some interesting people and live like a local. Now we have more time on our hands, we would like to continue to combine travelling and pet sitting.
We have been petsitting full time since May 22 and travelled to NZ & Australia, petsitting from Jan - April 23.
We have a trip planned for the States in September 2024 and interested in doing some sits.

Their experience

We have done over 70 petsits via Trusted House Sitters and have 5 star reviews for every sit. Please see our profile https://www.trustedhousesitters.com/user/profile/past-sits/
We have experience of most kinds of pets and farm animals including dogs, cats, farm animals and small animals such as rabbits and fish. We have been full time pet sitting for two years. In that time as well as caring for a wide variety of animals, we have experience of handling household emergencies such as no electricity after a lightening strike, flooding during a cyclone and taking preventative measures to avoid flooding using pumps and central heating leaks!

What can they bring to the assignment

We can bring a wealth of experience and maturity. We are friendly and easy going, up for a challenge and want to do our very best for the animals in our care. We are capable and able to manage if any problems arise
e.g. We have dealt with flooding from a cyclone, a lightening strike, and a cat having kittens. We are clean, tidy and like to leave houses as we find them and take great care with your home, possessions and animal family.
